Y U so lagged?
-
Everytime I log on and there's around 30 players online(aka peak hours) it becomes so lagged that I just log off, or continuously feel like doing so, because it's currently more fun for me to play on low peak hours, for this reason.
Is there any way to fix this?
(Perhaps by having a more potent dedicated server or maybe less scripts?)

I suppose more frequent donations could help in this.
There was also an idea to split the server, with in game transition leading from one server to another. Moloch said he even had an idea how to do it, it was only a matter funds. I say if we can maintain a server, we could likely maintain two as well.I think a bit more information on how much donation the server needs would make it easier for people to decide to donate. I understand it is a delicate matter, and there shouldn't be even the impression of pressure around asking for donations. Asking, however, isn't bad in itself. I'm aware of the topic where dms say a thank you for those who's donated, but I cannot recall anyone asking for it.

he's complaining we have 30 people on at the same time? Who is this guy?
-
I have no lag what so ever, regardless of player count. I do miss the 55/55 days when I had to spam the log in just to get into the game.
-
I always have lag but my PC is almost as old as NWN so I reckon its a CPU issue. My connection is also balls. It doesn't even get me killed all that often. Unless its those massive spam-monsters-everywhere events.
-
Jagged doesn't care that there's 30 people, he can get "the win" with a lot less, but only if he can powerquest in a bug free environment :P
-
reminds me how the server would drop 3 times a day back in the 55/55 days
-
jagged needs more memory
even 55/55 the ping is only 81 30/30 is in the 30's
that is no lag
now if you on dm events what happens in the event can be causing you lag
or if you see the little hourglass for pause is a dm thing its not lag but yes that freezes me too

The server is regularly getting up into the mid-to-low-forties in peak hours now, Arabel hasn’t had this good numbers for years - Obviously this has coincided with my return to active DMing ( ). Anyway, we’re getting great numbers at the moment and the players are doing the business IG! I’m not getting any lag, must be something your end.

Only had occasional lag when DM's are doing….. whatever it is they do. 99.9999999999% of the time, tis fine.
Jagged is has broke connection me - think
-
Sorry, it must have been when I got online and divided zero.
-
i pretty much always know when a dm arrives in the Mage Guild Tower as the lag goes through the roof, other than that i get very little these days.
At least compared to before i got more RAM!
-
The delay I'm talking about is the "having to wait 10 seconds after you pick an option in an NPC dialogue before the second option comes up" kind of lag.
PS: I live in Brazil.

My ping is low 300s to high 500s.
It kinda sucks sometimes.

Get a faster internet connection and a faster computer. Solved
-
I have a very fast connection and a very fast computer. Problem not solved, though. :/
Like I said, this is only at peak hours.
I like the "split the server" idea. All I need now is loads o' money to give away.

I think i found the bottle neck in your Gilligan's Island ISP connection.
Not to worry though they are sending tech support ASAP. http://www.autoblog.com/2009/07/12/gill ... mboo-taxi/

"Increasing powertrain efficiency" was awesome, but then the rest of the reading was all downhill from there.
-
I have a high-end custom-built rig with a fibre optic connection btw.
Ping/lag can still be quite bad.
Even with 3 people online.

when making wands, this is always a scary thing to run into. To me, this seems unrelated to the number of players on, but depends on WHO is logged in, perhaps because of what they have in their inventory, some sort of item that gets checked by scripts?
