PVP: You win some and you lose some
-
Today has proven to me that I really don't want to participate in PVP much anymore. I thought it was fun but that was always while I was on the losing side. I've honestly never won a PVP battle and had to deal with the OOC nightmare that happens afterwards. I have been killed to the point of starting back over at level 1 with no gear, no money, and nothing but my living character and clawed my way back up. I have been captured and beaten by my enemies and had my body spit on by those whom dueled me. In essence I'd like to say I'm a pretty good sport by now at losing in a PVP. That being said the first time I was part of a win was today and the OOC nightmare of trying to accomplish WIN for my team while still being fair to the other player and making it fun for them was painful and personally I don't really want to deal with it anymore. What motivation is there to win at PVP when your team is mad at you OOC for not being harsh enough and the other team is mad at you OOC for being too harsh?

This is actually my fault. I would have preferred death over what happened in all honesty. I'm a terrible sport when it comes to starting from scratch.
Sorry for all the shit I stirred up there. I apologize. Especially to the DM and Harts/otherplayers involved. You did not deserve that.

People tend to be pretty reasonable. They may be upset now, but if people take a step back they will realize you've done the best you can for yourself, your team, and the server.

Vrugor, don't sweat it, I totally understand.
Archangel has it right. People are usually very reasonable if you are.
Latokskinned, having a character take a big blow, or even losing a character you love can be really tough, but in the end, it is a game. You win some, you lose some. Showing other people OOC courtesy and not dry looting or FDing their characters is always a nice thing to do and something you should usually do unless you have a compelling reason to do otherwise. When you DO win, you should realize that losing can often be really tough and try not to rub it in to the person who lost.

Take a deep breath and count to ten…..................................................
Remember it's a game and your here to have fun winning or losing don't matter as much as fun.
Now i will say the most important thing you will hear in this thread.
STAY IN CHARACTER.
Forget ooc considerations do what your character would do and if somone is complaining oocly to you simply say "please deal with this icly"As to the event you decided to take charge if your allies were angry icly thats great ooc should of been left out of it also if you don't want to make these choices then don't leave them to somone else and play the minion minions are more fun anyway.

I was a minion.

@Amy:
Now i will say the most important thing you will hear in this thread.
STAY IN CHARACTER.
Forget ooc considerations do what your character would do and if somone is complaining oocly to you simply say "please deal with this icly.I disagree, for two reasons.
Firstly, because even if this is a game, as people have pointed out, losing isn't fun. As you said, this is a game and it's about having fun. Being a jerk OOCly just because it's what your character would do means other people are having less fun. It is counterproductive to the purpose you, yourself, proposed.
Secondly, if you've just FDed someone, there's precious little they can do about it ICly, now isn't there?
Say, in the extreme example, I powerbuild a Barbarian, get him to level 11, and then out of the blue, the first time I meet them, murder your character because he's a crazy, malicious bastard but a coward who only picks on those he knows he can defeat at heart. I have done precisely what you recommend.
Is that something you'd like to have happen to you? -
Lets let things cool off a little. Perhaps return to this another time, with clear heads.
