Bring back more "badass-ery" to CoA

The people asking "why can't people just play that type of character anyway? This is your answer.
Who would want to play a character based character (as opposed to a plot or adventure based character) when even if they aren't "lesbo elf #3" they get lumped into that an mocked?
Actually, I think the term used before that was "Market Sitter". And even then, the mocking steamed from them…just doing that. If you wanna do that, yes it is up to them. But the best way to get mocked is to think you deserve something tangible from doing that!
There were market sitters, but there were also a fair amount of people who played interesting characters- but who didn't get involved in intrigue and less in adventure.
Calling them market sitters or bunching them into other stuff and mocking it is as useful as it would be to describe "intrigue" characters as "plot-whores" or "adventure" characters as "powergamers"- both terms that have been thrown about in the past. The difference is that now it's become the norm to put down the one play style.
I think both of you are right. It's unreasonable I think for ANYONE to expect anything from the DMs, especially when others actively do things to garner attention from DMs. It is like-wise unfair to completely ignore a different play style. As I had said before, having the CoA Sims around addedn a bit of color to the server and made it seem more life like. Now it seems like an pwn4g3 paradise far more focused on ruffling feathers and promoting conflict. NEITHER OF THESE PLAY STYLES ARE BAD!
I agree it is unfair for characters far more focused on being a character rather than focusing on adventure and intrigue expect more loot. BUT I don't think it's unreasonable for them to ask for xp. Being in character does take effort and focus.
I agree that adventure and intrigue offers alot of ways for the server to evolve in which direction it goes particularly with PvP, but it is unfair to ask them to not play this way.

I definitely feel like the "Everyone doesn't have to adventure and intrigue. You can play your own stupid, waste-of-time way if you want. This server caters to all players - the awesome adventure and intrigue-rs and the boring ninnies!" attitude contributed to driving away a lot of players. I mean, if the adventure and intrigue style of play isn't right for you as a player, why would you want to stay and put up with that attitude?

Lets face it guys, the server changes because of those who "impress" the DMs the most, like we're on some pageant.
They've said it themselves, really, so yeah it sounds to me like you have to play by a DM's tune to get ahead, rather than do things your way.
EDIT: And lets face this too: Intrigue in CoA is not intrigue…it's politics.

What reason would a DM have to play with someone who does nothing to garner their attention?

The “Adventure & Intrigueâ€
-
I will campaign to have the ''Adventure & Intrigue'' slogan banned from CoA
-
Get back on topic or I'm going to Adventure & Intrigue the shit out of you.
-
It is on topic.
Remove the stupid idea of ''Adventure & Intrigue'' having anything to do with CoA and it'll be more badass.

I'm sorry the topic is locked and so there will be no way to respond to this, but I feel I must really write it.

The server changes because of those that can "impress" us with creating a story that involves and creates fun for several other players. What really I DON'T GET is people who focus so much on roleplay, who spend their days in safe places, exploring the depths of their characters' personality (and these are all WONDERFUL things), but still want to affect the foundations of the setting. That will not happen! Roleplay is the reward in itself, for this kind of gameplay. No DM interaction will give you the same kind of satisfaction as spending hours sharing dreams, hopes, nightmares with the other roleplayers you like. The way a DM will reward you is allowing you to have a glimpse of the NPCs' personality, a quest that may challange you and help develop your character. But if the focus is on your character, expect the rewards to be focused on your character. And wouldn't that makes sense? Mazzini and Garibaldi were both great characters/personalities. But one made Italy. The other was very interesting to be around.
