New PrC Requirements
-
I kind of figured that it would be allowed for different concepts. The way its described in the prc requirements posts makes it seem like it is meant more specifically for harpers. Maybe it could be changed to something more open sounding? Newer players might not know those definitions aren't set in stone.

Point me to the thread please, and I'll fix it.
-
Lift up all the Prequisites and instead allow DMs to decide …
Ditto
-
Lift every prerequisite except being lvl 5.
-
THE BAB! THE BAB, GET RID OF THE BAB! (and the high skill stuff)
So far, it looks like everyone just wants everything lowered to fit the level range of CoA, which makes sense, just drop everything to make sense in the level range, and I reckon it'd be fine.
Get rid of the stupid hide thing with blackguards too
-
it would be nice for a character to be able to get a prestige class based on in game events and associates, especially for players who are not really that smart when it comes to the actual mechanics of the game like me, though i am not likely going to get a prestige class it would be nice to think i could actually get one if my play in the game proved stellar to the DM's, that would be so cool to have that prospect available.
…like that ultra rare and virtually unobtainable (to all but the most talented and responsible players) shadowdancer class
-
Um, if possible without breaking the module. Make shitty PRC's feats less Harper Scouty. And Overpowered PRCs, well…less Shadow Dancery?
-
If you would add a true Shadow Mage, I'd enjoy that.
-
Add spell focus necromancy to a palemasters pre-reqs. Remove their animate dead ability and replace it with an animate dead item that can be targeted on player corpses. More uses of this item as they raise in levels.
Arcane shifters.
Asassins only reqs 4 hide/ms and a hired kill.
Remove racial restrictions on dwarven defender and arcane archer.
lower bab for all fighter based prcs
-
Removing Dwarven Defender race requirements would be awesome and makes way for the PrC to be used in different concepts, like Breach Gnomes.
-
I think PrCs should not be out there for the people just looking for mechanical advantage, they should be there for players who want to roleplay a character with particular skills or a peculiar concept without first consulting a rule book.
Those might probably be the same kind of fun, exciting players that DMs gravitate to as part of the stories and plots behind these concepts and –those who only want awesome, clearly defined mechanical advantage may want to remember that that isn't what Arabel is designed for--but just roleplay your character and do what they would do.Apart from the joke, I'm all for abolishing all the prerequisites and go straight to earn-in-game or application characters, if doable script-wise.
-
Lift up all the Prequisites and instead allow DMs to decide when did a character achieve a certain goal to become a PrC? Swap the mechanical requierments for purely RP, In-Game achieved ones.
It would still be hard to get them, however, it also allows people who did not create a character for a PrC to get one incidentally.
Excellent shout.
I concur. Should your suddenly get a character approved for a PrC and not have the build for it, thats no fun. And building towards a PrC you'll never get can be even more frustrating (even tho we're not supposed to think like that). Also, they should all be available from lv 6.
I agree. I've found myself persuing a PrC recently based on my char's experience and since I didn't build for it from the get go I'm not going to be able to take it if I am approved until LV 11. With as often as I die that's unlikely to ever happen. It's still fun to do the research in game and whatnot but with CoA's advancement and focus on RP not LVs removing all requirements except excellent RPing should be the way to go.

I failed to see your words because the final part was just INSANELY EPIC!
-
I can't help but find it amusing that Dwarven defenders would not need to be dwarfs after all.
It's a class designed for them. gnomes are too…unstable...to really hold to the idea behind the class. Dwarves have that grom, stoic racial character. They won't let go something of theirs until you pry it from their cold, dead hands with a crowbar. Which is why the class has a racial restriction. It's a class uniquely suited to them.
Or you could just make it open season and make RRD avaliable to any class and watch the population of them sky-rocket.

@Breach:
Gnomes tend to build their homes and communities within or beyond narrow caves or gullies that limit the ability for larger creatures, or large numbers of creatures, to pass through. Gnome fortresses are often built based on the same premise so that in times of great urgency, one solitary gnome may hold such a passageway long enough to allow others to seek help or evacuate by means of some secret egress.
The tradition of breach gnomes arose from this military and architectural feature of gnomish culture. These gnomes are trained to hold one spot against an onslaught of goblins, a rampaging ogre, or anything else that might threaten a gnome community. They are trained to use the close confines of an area against their opponent, redirecting attacks or pressing the enemy towards the walls. Dedicated breach gnomes persevere through raw will to defend their loved ones and do their duty.
Most breach gnomes understand that they will most likely sacrifice their lives in this endeavor, despite the best of their training. Breach gnomes have a saying they use to bid good-bye to one another: "Until everyone is safe." That is how they see their duty: to hold their position until everyone in their community is safe.
It is rare for breach gnomes to leave their communities, but sometimes they undertake quests for their people, often as guardians for priests.
These sound Awsome!

@Bolthor:
Weapon Master and Divine Champion should have the necessary BAB reduced to +5, I think. As is, they're designed for high level settings, and few people, if any, ever benefit from the abilities that come from the classes.
I'd like to see all of the skill requirements from Blackguard removed, and have it a purely earn-through-RP class.
Unless I misread the PDF (Believe it was Book of Exalted Deeds) Divine Champion is actually BAB+2 but has a forced requirement of divine spellcasting + performing a quest for the church, as well as a Religious Knowledge requirement.
-
I'd like to see the archmage, and duelist from the DMG v3.5 as PrC's, even the Arcane Trickster.
-
Id say get rid of them. here are the reasons
- lets say we lower the requirement most players are from 6-8 average do you REALLY have any NEAT abilites that set you apart in game? On one or two yes (assassin comes to mind and red dragon disciple) but the rest nah not really. that leads to
- this is a low level/power game you need to be 10th and up for the prestige classes to have impact game mechanic wise. So other than saying "OOOHH I am blackguard" you really dont have much to SHOW for it other than other players can see it on your character when they log in.
- Also as others have stated you have to "metagame" your PC to actually BE a prestige class but with out the dms involved you have basically wasted your time and character on something that has happened maybe 3-5 times in several years ..so why bother?
- lastly with the ability to have 3 different clases you can custom your character to the way YOU want it with out the frustration of dm or no dm intervention and just HAVE FUN.
- simply put for this level of play the prestige classes are a lost cause and should be treated as such…they would ROCK if the max level of COA quests when up to say 15th but then complaints of game balance hit the fan :( so IT IS WHAT IT IS !
-
I'm pretty sure the PrCs are for flavor rather than being exceptionally mechanically powerful… so I'd loathe to see that happen.

OBVIOUSLY!!! You have not had a Prestige PC… I know PM's get an ability in CoA that sets them apart, Pretty sure CoT had a few too... And you have 4 posts which makes me chuckles heh.
