As Dame Drakesbane says if we can strengthen the ward it should remove the fiendish presence from the Eastern Marches and the land will be available for use after the war, Whilst guards would have to be posted during the war to ensure Tilverton does not utilise the marches to attack through Hillmarch i believe reclaiming the lands would be worth it

The resources required to do so will beggar our coffers for a long time. Recovery after the war will also be delayed as death benefits will be suspended for wives and children who perish, and we'd be left unable to quickly raise troops.
The long term benefits of course can outweigh this if we survive the crunch in our budget.

It may well be worth it. After all the shield marches have mines, The wondergranges whilst close to Tilverton could be fertile farms and so on
What is known of the ward and what is needed to strengthen it?

It's isn't that we don't have what we need, it's paying the man who can do it. No, House Mossmere won't do it, either.
The resources required can only be used once, so the caster performing the ritual must at least be an archmage. Hence, the cost. If this council deems it necessary and worth it, the transaction will be made and we will begin preparations where you will need to defend the ward while it is being strengthened from infernal, abyssal, and angelic forces.

This seems like a waste of resources to control an area that will provide as much a hinderance to Tilverton as it will to us.
I would suggest regular patrols instead to ensure that there are no movements through the area that we do not see, and therefore cannot counter.
I will happily take this as my resonsibility, though I would assume that others will be enlisted to the task to cover when i am in reverie.

Its not a waste of resources to be able to reclaim the lands, free from planar influence and use them for the betterment of the Kingdom.
It will cost resources in the short term but be very beneficial in the long term

I fully agree that if Strenghening the Ward will return the Eastern Marches to it's natural state, we should defend the ritual to make sure it is completed.

I agree that strengthening the ward should be a priority. I am a member of the Arcane Guild and would like to try and enlist their aid in this particular endeavour. While I am sure she is no Archmage, Noblewoman Rosa Gallica is skilled in abjuration and the use of wards.

I am certain the Arcane Guild will be welcome to aid defend from the planar forces.
More who can help banish them so the frontliners will have less to contend with will be a big boon
