You just have to inform a dm im pretty sure. Especially if you were planning an ambush
Yeah, tell DMs about your plans ahead of time :P
-
3:00pm EST saturday it seems.

Has a date or time been agreed?
-
Generally, you can do any action you could do in a real war as long as you inform a DM beforehand and give them some time to setup.
Last minute stuff does have a possibility of getting ignored, admittedly, but trying to respond to 30 people wanting to do stuff at once is frankly impossible. Staggering requests over a week or something (so they can note it down and get all players into position) for large battles is generally the best way to get your own plans in motion.
-
okay, I might make it, maybe watching star wars.
-
I know spiffy said it above but I want to reiterate guys there is a chance of perma death on this for everyone invloved. I just want to make sure everyone knows ahead of time. Win or lose live or die I'm going to enjoy this event.
If you are planning on coming just to watch please make this apparent in character ahead of time. It's very easy when people start fighting to tunnel vision and lose track of who is who, I would suggest staying way back and staying unarmed.
-
I would say that if you come, prepare to be killed. It is better that way rather than having someone complain OOC after the fact. As there may be large explosions etc that could hit you even from far away.
-
Yeah I want everyone to have a good time, would be a shame to see people leave sour because they weren't prepared.

+1. The Banite team will know clearly know who their allies are in the battlefield, just FYI to all. So we won't hesitate to FD people who we even believe is our enemy.
OOC disclosure: I probably won't be stopping to type and talk just because it's difficult enough for me to focus on combat as a player.
Also, it will be hard to justify being in the Temple IC just to watch once we enter and telling us you're not our enemies. You're most likely going to get attacked IC.

I mean, seriously, a divine march is a HOLY WAR, not some spectator sport. If you're an onlooker in a WAR ZONE, you are risking your life. If that's what people want to be, then they deal with the consequences. I don't think that's in any way discourteous OOCly.
If people don't want to be involved, don't even be there is my view, unless you really want to watch so badly that you're willing to risk your life in collateral damage.
-
Uninvolved players will be asked to log out.

By log out, you mean, even those who are far from involved, not even in old town when this happens?
-
If you are not involved in the divine march, log out. I will boot players who are not involved.
Simple as that.
-
Wow. I respectfully think that's a really bad call. I do not care about pvp, at all, and pvp will prevent me from loggin in?
-
Yes, because massive PvP events cause lag and people logged in who are uninvolved will make more lag
-
Lag is what will kill players who are involved, and if you're off running quests and shit and taking up server resources needed elsewhere for a major server event, and players die, it'll be your fault.
I think you can stay logged out for 1-2 hours for the event to resolve itself.
-
What if the pvp shit would cause me to die to lag? Are some characters more important or what? Is this serious?
-
I apologize if you feel 1-2 hours of your time cannot be done doing something else, IKnowNothing. Some events take priority over questing.
-
Frankly, yes. The Metaplot must move forward and when major events happen they expend all the server's resources. You're welcome to take part, just know you risk permadeath.
-
Allow me to phrase this in a less offensive way.
The server is being scheduled for an event, and several tables are reserved. Like at a restaurant, this increases the waiting time before you can get a table. Unlike other events, this is a pretty big one, and it calls for the entire building to be reserved since massive amounts of lag can result if people are all doing their own thing. I know it's hard to swallow, but from experience, this is the best solution to lag.
All I am asking for is 1-2 hours of your time spent playing cards against humanity if you aren't interested in participating.
And yes, some things are more important than others.
