^that.
Hope things work out, though!

Also if it isn't already beyond salvation, drop it in a big bag of the cheapest rice you can find
-
If you turned it off quickly enough you may no have friend anything. DO NOT TURN IT BACK ON. Give it a full day or two to dry. The rice tip is actually very good. Buy a giant ziplock and put the latop inside with the rice. Leave for a while.
I'd open it up and double check things too before turning it back on.
Keep it unplugged and rip out the battery.

Out of game tonight. Will try to return home tomorrow, else I'll be on Sunday.
-
Animus had a rough Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The capstone to the weekend was his death on a quest. Probably going to leave him that way and take a week off or so.
I've really enjoyed the server and everyone since coming back but my lack of truly understanding the mechanics of how CoA functions has hurt my last number of characters. Additionally this time I feel I as a player failed my character.
So since it's a game, now would be a good time to take a break, play some Battletech when it drops tomorrow and come back to CoA with a fresh perspective in a week or so. Additionally, with lots of real life going on this weekend I would have to end up missing the Tilverton event regardless of if I was playing or not so it seemed like a good time to pump the breaks.
Cheers!

Mooshyyyy!
Come back soon, we'll miss you! I understand not knowing the mechanics well can be frustrating. I've been there. A lot. But I've started learning them by asking advice from those who know them by heart. It has helped me -a lot-. Please don't hesitate to ask around for some help there, we'll all be happy to help you. Your RP is awesome, can't wait to have you back IG! Take care and see you later. [heart]
-
@mister-moosh Also lots of folks around who can help explain basics so you understand them. Though, that said, doing what you're doing just earns more rewards from DMs anyway that make up for a few deaths.
Like seeing through the bloodstone plot...
-
Take the time you need,
But come back. If there is anything this server needs its more Animus with a @Mister-Moosh behind the wheel.
Also I'm on Disc if you want to rant, cuss at, or just talk mechanics.
Cya sooner rather than later buddy!
-
Animus has a lot of pokers in a lot of fires, so I don't think I'm done with him yet, just need some time to refresh myself. I went hard on CoA after finding it again and I'm always asking questions in
#builds-and-mechancis
so I'm constantly learning.Just a breather, not leaving, just temporarily out of game. Real life is dictating I'll miss the Tilverton plot finale regardless as to if I was playing all week or not.
I appreciate the kind words, I'll be around in discord asking questions and chatting. :)

@mister-moosh Noooooooo!
-
My boss flies into town Sunday and is here for the week. That will have an affect on my play time.

I am in Hawaii until 4/30. My partner takes priority over you guys. ;3

Working all weekend. See you all Monday!

I hadn’t been going to bother with this, but after a few days thought I figured I’d post it anyway.
A year long story comes to a close without any kind of resolution, satisfying or otherwise and I’m reminded that this is the norm and not the exception. Unfortunately Ophi gets no closure and neither do I, compounding a frustration I’ve been having for months and months being told to let things I nurtured and worked hard to bring about deal with themselves only stings all the more.
For me CoA has always been a creative outlet that allows people to explore characters in a world with genuine danger, to tell stories and have them told to us as we watch these things play out. Unfortunately we rarely get that catharsis and even rarer still is it actually interesting enough to fit what came before it.
I realize this may come off whining but my concerns came from a position of wanting better for the community and the enjoyment of everyone involved. Maybe things will improve with new blood, something I genuinely hope to see with EE, but I won’t be there to see it.
Puffy says I get too attached to my characters, I don’t think I do- I invest in them because I want to see cool stories told and have them be meaningful and exploratory. But the lingering traces of ‘A&I or gtfo’ have made characters as reliably interchangeable as the conflicts that get started and fueled-- it’s a cultural thing at this point but new blood should help dilute that.
I’d been going to write a thorough post-mortem to help this experiment with player control along, but after thinking about it I don’t have the energy any more and being told that retirement wasn’t really on the table so I could at least be satisfied in such a simple way just really pissed me off.
That ship has sailed and so has mine, but I wish you all the best and send out massive hugs to everyone who’s made my time fun and those who’ve forced me to develop. I’ve deleted my Twisting Winds account, but if someone has something absolutely critical that they want to discuss with me they can reach me on discord:

I might pop on the forums to advertise some fantasy novels at some point in the future, but for now this is goodbye.

@white-onyx
No don't goooooooooooooooooo -
I'm really sorry to hear this, @White-Onyx ... I wish there could be something I could do to keep you here with us. I always had fun playing with you and it was always a pleasure to talk with you. You were there when I needed cheering up or someone to rant to, or to just play silly RP and have great fun laughing at our craziness. I really hope you'll come back someday to RP with us again. Good luck out there and be well.
-
@white-onyx CoA is a sand castle on a low tide beach. Nothing stays for long, people, characters, or setting elements, but castles are beautiful while they last. It's a lot like life in microcosm.
Even so, I get a lot of joy out of remembering the good times on good characters, and some of those good times have been with you. I'm sorry to see you go and I will miss you when you are gone. You have always been choice social interaction for my characters in their various shades for or against yours and the good times were really good.

Hey folks.
I'm not one for fancy words or long, eloquent speeches. Between RL and increasing indifference to CoA, partly due to the time of play available to me, I'm going to wave good night to my time here.
I don't like good byes, but this parting will likely be far longer than most. To those who Penny was helping, I'm sorry.
To some, and you'll know who you are, you made this server come to life, and helped my improve my writing and RP skills far beyond what I'd expected. I shall always treasure my times with you all.
To others, I wish you luck. Either I never got to know you or our play styles grated.
Skipping over the myriad of things that led to this outcome, I wish the CoA community as a whole, good days and fair seas, as I, as all will at some point, finish this chapter of my life.
If there are people who wish to contact me, I am avaliable on discord at Alonsis2#7973.
