Persistent Storage
-
Since we've had two recent incidents of this:
Persistent chests/storage do NOT take gold. It will be destroyed the moment you close the chest. They also do not store containers (e.g. scroll boxes)

To prevent dupings that have happened, I have changed the storage strategy again. As of now, the items will be erased from the database once you open the chests, and stored again when you close it. If the chest gets stuck in the "open" position, the module will not send the "Closed" event and thus the items will NEVER be saved. After the next reset, you will have a nice, clean, and empty chest.
Thus, if the chest is stuck open, grab your gear and wait for the next reset until you put it back in.I am unsure if this was stated before, but plot items are not meant to be stored in persistant storage.
If you acquire a plot item and especially one that is sought by many characters for various reasons, do not hide it away in persistant storage completely destroying any chances that it is taken back from you until the time comes to use it.
You carry it around, or hand it to another character unless you have a DM permission to store it.

General persistent storage should be used to store a small number of additional items for personal use. If you have a large amount of equipment you can't carry, you should either sell it, give it away for free or trash it. As adventurers you have to strike the balance between being prepared for situations and not being encumbered. Too many people are getting too used to not having to make these decisions any more and just hoarding basic equipment, if it continues capacities may be reduced further and items stored in inappropriate chests may be removed without warning. In particular storage for cells, confiscated items etc is there to be used for storing items of prisoners in cells, confiscated items and the like. It is not there to be more general storage when you've filled all the rest up. Finally storing items on behalf of others comes out of your allowance, and is subject to all the rules above.
Persistent storage should be a minor convenience to help you out in a tough spot every now and again, it should not be something to constantly rely upon to let you circumvent the NWN inventory limitations.

~~A reminder.
Hedge Magic Reagents are considered plot items and should not be placed in Persistent Storage.~~

Reminding those of the previous reminder, using a new reminder.
Quite ingenious.
Reminding, still, that this would include all plot items.

I've been seeing quite a bit of this in various storage chests.
I'm going to start destroying the items that shouldn't be there when I next see them. Storing such things in chests is taking away other characters chances to thwart your plans, and removing an important element of the game.
Don't do it.

Bump! Please do not store plot items, carry it around and allow the story to continue. This include PC/DM items you have stolen/taken/kept/whatever which relate to any persona agenda, plot or similar situations. Do not put them in storage, allow the players a chance to gain it back and make it fun for everyone.

Hedge Magic Reagents are no longer plot items as they are more commonly found and many are used in general crafting.
