I was afraid the reference would be lost on everyone :-)
-
I made party lines cool before they were cool. I was using beepers and playing Q-Bert in the arcade. I knew about the Konami cheat code before it was published in Nintendo Power. Donkey Kong was my best friend AND I was downloading shareware and expansion packs before they were called demos and DLCs.

When I watched clips, Michael Jackson was alive… and he was black.
-
I was around when George HW Bush was president
I was around when people used Windows 3.1
I was around when glam rock was a thing
I was around when the cold war was still on
I was around when Metallica were the new kids on the block..
..I was around before ARMAGEDDON MUD.
-
I was around when Gerald Ford was President, though the first one I truly remember was Jimmy Carter (I was born when Nixon was still in office)
I remember waiting in line with my parents at the gas station hoping to be able to buy our limit of gasoline for the week (thanks, OPEC!)
My first computer was a Commodore 64 and I thought I was hot stuff for having it.
I plated on TEOTL (The End of the Line) MUD in college. My first on-line "RP" game. hah
…Yeah, how's that for old?
-
I don't remember a time before mobile phones or the internet

I remember stuff Puffy cannot know of in her wildest nightmares…eldritch, alien, unknowable things that cannot be completely encompassed by feeble modern human faculties.
Yes.Cassette tapes - A magical, thin, plastic rectangle that plays sounds when placed into an alien contraption.
Typewriter - Like a keyboard attached to MS Word, only without the monitor and the MS word. I know it's hard to imagine.
Floppy disks - Thin, wafer like rectangular things that store up to a whopping 1.44 MB of data! Revolutionary.
Disco - Eldritch lovecraftian horror that will destroy your mind. Do not ask more of it. Do not.
Also, 80's hair.
-
I always wondered how humanity survived the eighties. Was this really fashionable?

Let's not forget the almighty Record Player, a God which fed on plate sized plastics discs with a feeding tube and hummed as it ate the parasites from the surface. If you had lots of skill points in technology you could transfer these sounds to the aforementioned cassette tapes and use the portable version of the alien contraption Polaris mentioned….
! The Boombox!

Computer with operating system DOS (Good days)
Western Music.
Floppy As and floppy Bs
Pogs
Outside Playing {Bane of younger generations}

I remember thinking I was clever buying single sided floppies and using a hole punch to make them double sided. [+1.44mb!]

Actually, people still use vinyl today, which is why I didn't mention it.
