Chat lag is a symptom of Latency most likely.
Graphics lag is likely a symptom of NWN being a decade old game used to being run on modern hardware.

CPU affinity helps, as does turning off 3d sound from Sound Options.

@cadiz_stoker:
i cant understand how that would work…
Try clearing carrot with a chainsaw then.
Solutions used 10 years prior were different the ones preferred nowdays, and your machine's GPU is likely optimized for those used in this era. It needs to emulate old things in several steps. -
i run with the sound disabled in the game

I turn off the game sounds and turn up the Viking power metal. It helps me game hardcore.
I've had more lag than I've ever had before playing CoA, other than that I think V5 is pretty wonderful.
Big thanks / well done to all the people to made it happen and are currently making it happen.

Dialogue menus seem slow going and there are occasional hiccups. Other than that, all seems good.

i should make one thing clear, i do not encounter lag all the time, but when it does happen i use the conversations to guide my in game decisions of to wander into a dangerous quest or area, as when these occur there seems to be a bit of "rubber banding" when i am trying to walk, this usually happens when there are a lot of people on and i am guessing some DM event or quest
it does not happen all the time, i adjust my game play accordingly when i encounter lag or conversation delays
