CoA Advertisement Flyer: Final Version [DMs, Players]

Yeah, prologue is one of the coolest things EfU has got. Could use one as lon as it's optional and isn't immersion breaking.
Also why is there a Game of Thrones character in it? -
Pyatt Pree was ALSO the most notorious villian the server has ever had. For 4 months or so, he caused havok on a daily basis, and had huge impact on the server.
-
We had a plan for a prologue quest a good while ago, just didn't finish it.

That's the thing.

Yeah, ideas are awesome. Realising them is the problem.
-
Tell me about it.
Still, I really think a spiced up prologue would do wonders. Maybe make the new DM guy do it. -

Why? I don't think we have more than a few newcomers once in a month or two. And even they will be bored reading about characters they don't know and who are not even relevant now.
Unless prologue would cover the current events - political structure, factions, global plots, etc. That would probably be nice. -
I hate that there's a CoA Pyatt Pree. How did that even happen when we're not supposed to use characters from novels/movies/games etc? Anyway, I wouldn't give him even more exposure to new players as there may be other folk turned off by the name ripoff.
-
Wildling. Whether he ripped off the name from a character or not isnt the point. In my 9 years here, Howland pulled off by far the greatest villian we have ever encountered. To me, and most others, he has been the benchmark to which any other evil player has been measured. He should and is mentioned because he as a character can serve as an inspiration to others that if you work hard, and put everything into a concept, the sky is the limit.

Okay, but new players aren't going to know or really care how awesome a player who doesn't play here anymore was. All they see is the unoriginal name, not a set of instructions on how to play a bad guy.

OK, hi guys, you know, I have very fond memories of playing on CoA and I'm both confident and hopeful in the desired goal of attracting more players. I really think NWN is a good (the best) platform for immersive roleplaying and I'm definitely interested in seeing the NWN community and all good servers doing well. If players are concerned about the state of CoA, and if desired, I really would be happy to help.
However, I am confident there have been more recent CoA villains that are more worthy of being made an example of. For one thing, I don't think the character was actually that good - with all sincerity probably one of the worst characters I played here or elsewhere . For another, the name really is embarrassing. At the time (8, 9 years ago? I don't even know) A Song of Ice and Fire was far more obscure, but it certainly isn't now, and plucking names directly from fantasy is a terrible thing to do. Finally, from a public relations point of view, it strikes me as slightly undesirable to choose as a villain a character that was played a very long time ago by a guy that subsequently went on to make his own, separate PW server.
So, with all due respect, my first piece of advice would be to let that character go, and focus on other things (including future possibilities!).

Prologue sounds a good idea. I didnt know Pyat Pree was a fictional character in those books until recently so imagine my surprise when I saw the name and thought this guy outright copied CoA vilains :D. But I kinda agree that if you did not play when Pree was the main vilain on CoA, you 'd just be turned away by such a thing in the prologue. Imagine getting on another server and in the prologue the main hero/vilain of sometime in the past was "Aragorn" or "Gandalf"… Would you stay? (Lord of the Rings servers are excluded!) They may have been awesomeness incarnated, but if you weren't playing at the time, why would you even care?
Anyway I just added a bit to the conversation which may be moot since Pree himself hath thpoken!
