V5 Teasers Discussion

@O'louth:
From what I can see, it -is- Deschurrs Axe. Secondly, if I was to guess, its Anya Deschurr. If memory serves she was suppose to be a half dragon.
Otherwise, the only vague rumor of silver dragons in the CoA setting, would be the one Maureen worshipped when she played her RDD bard, or "Lhals" bodyguard elf, who was supposedly a Silver Dragon Masked as an elven weaponmaster of the Longsword.
The last part I am rather certain was forgotten and thereby written out of the setting.
That's my thinking. It means Mitchell is gone and Anya has taken the reigns and that axe.. forgot the name, starting with M or something. Anyway, the pictures labelled "Wyvernguard", so I suspect a part of the server will revolve around dragons of somesort, which leads me to believe that V5 is going for an even higher degree of fantasy. Not my taste but beggars can't be choosers.

The picture is labelled where? The file name is Anya.jpg, just saying.
-
Will there be any changes on what role quests play in the world and how they work or will it still be pretty much the same.
I'm not really sure what you're asking here. Can you clarify please?

When it was posted on IRC, it was Wyvernguard.

Oh my! Its as if I'm spoiling several things to different people at different times and in different ways.
I'll be explaining all of the above on Saturday morning.
-
I thought it was Anya also… and Wyverguard.. interesting...
hmm.... random thoughts... Anya leads a band of GDs to clear out the demons from Wyvernrest... then from there, they clear out the pirates and take over Immersea. That leads to pushing out the Legion.. an alliance with whats left of the Lhallygaggers... and Anya ends up being what used to be known as "Warden of the North" - except it's called the Wyvernguard, and is responsible for protection of the city and surronding area. Sorta like the old PDs. The Harts shrink to being a bunch of KOTMS wannabees holed up in their castle whining stuff like "You need to be sure justice is done correctly! You cant execute people on the spot!" oh... and... the Gnomes are still there, and the Mage GUild, although their district is shrunk significantly, or maybe... maybe the Mage Guild was "gently persuaded" that magic belongs out of the city and they have taken up in some village.... Well, just random stream-of-consciousness... We'll see Saturday

You got at least two thing right games.
-
Maybe the Wyvernguard has got links with the Stark Wyvern, arn't the Stark Wyvern partly Ex-Green Dragons? Plus that background looks mage guildy somewhat..
-
Eh. My two things could be a rather pitiful guess of the obvious "Anya" along with "GDs" being the core of Wyvernguards

My apologies I will try to clarify. Will quests continue to function in a traditional the way as they have which is to gain levels or is there the possibility that some quests could have an actual impact on the world itself after completing them? A couple examples; sucessfully caravan quests for a merchant house boosts their revenue which in turn allows retainer PC's more funds to spend on their projects. Or clearing a den of lizardfolk means that for the next few hours lizardfolk in the general area will be fewer in numbers.
-
The year will be 1431? Far out! That means Azoun V will be nearing the end of a golden age!
So many epic possibilities! YUS!
-
Fifty years in the future. Council of nobles as rulers. Redesigned server. Vault wipe. Possibility of a hak.
You've made me a very, very happy Neo.
-
Love the new reveal and can't wait for more. Since it's mentioned council is chosen by the nobles I am assuming this means that political savy PCs will get a chance to get themselves a position on there?

Why Join: In a city populated by adventurers and threatened constantly by danger from
! , the Wyrm Guard are the defenders of the city walls and maintainers of peace within those walls.
! > Adventure: The Wyrm Guard adventures by responding to and preventing threats to the city from the! and other enemies both internal and external.
! I played adlibs and pluged "Bhaliir" in each spoiler tag…just cause it feels soooooo good and sooooooo right. -
Moloch. You bring me to tears. Best damn strip show I have seen in ages!

Will there be any changes to the lore around Arabel? Like, will the setting move into 4th edition with some lore changes and certain events pertaining to Cormyr and FR as a whole? The FR wiki is updated to 4th Ed and people with no experience in FR might use them as reference to building a characters history or something. I don't know. I just want to see the Spellplague or aftereffects thereof.

That's a good questions, but not one I could answer at all at this point beyond saying that we haven't given it thought. The DM's main goal is to figure out what must be done to launch v5, and figuring out the rest of Toril for v4 isn't as necessary just yet. This may be something excellent for players to discuss, what do we, as a server, want to take from v4 of the Forgotten Realms and make canon in v5 of Arabel.

Savvy PCs will get a chance to do just about anything, we're going to keep a world where players affect things, we just are going to avoid the "ruler of the month" type of story. The city itself will be a stable and safe base for fun and adventure, but not a 'prize' to fight over constantly.

Great to hear :)

Not a big fan of 4th edition FR on the whole myself, plus half the changes they brought in were to with mechanical changes too…
Not that all the 4th edition stuff was terrible, the idea of the elemental lords being something different from the other gods was a nice idea for example, but I hate how they nuked Thay into undead land Mk69, when before it was evil trade empire with tons of intrigue.
