The Politics Of Prometheus(Spoilerish)

I watched the Film but never really payed alot of attention to the political themes that were supposed to be there. I found the music sound track to be garish and overly eposodic, (apperantly the ships door opening deserved a great fanfare). The movie was confusing and strange. I'll admit i never read the comics it's based on so maybe i'm missing information that one who followed this frachise would know?
Two guys i followed out of the Theater were gushing about how true to the comics the Builders armor and whatnot were.
I couldn't care about any of the characters. The action was all predictable in a classic horror movie sort of way and a big Meh! (Oh gee i wonder what will happen to that guy wandering around all alone?)
The only part mildly suprising was that those eight foot tall pasty white guys, with the big giant heads, had exactly the same DNA as humans? WTF? Or why the guy sleeping for 2000 years didn't just kill everyone with his morning breath?

I fucking hated the movie. Ive watched every Alien flick plenty of times, and while I havent read any comics, I would say the movie is one of the worst, if not the worst, Mr Scott has ever made. Its 2,5 hours of my life I will never get back.

Erm.. I liked it.
-
I liked it as well. The one thing I have an issue with is as far as I understand this DID NOT follow the comics, really. I was under the impression this was suppose to be an Alien prequel, but turns out it was kinda it's own thing (Despite being set in the Aliens universe). The movie left me with alot of unanswered questions, but that is typical for a movie industry that takes old ideas that have already been done and recycles them or finds way to make them new (Reboots and the like).
I'd give it a 4/5. Downside is I did find it somewhat predictable, but still entertaining.
-
Went to watch it knowing nothing about it apart from "sci-fi horror" and that it had received mixed reviews, so the ending was a nice surprise for me. I liked it - it wasn't amazing and had some formulaic story elements, but it was nevertheless entertaining and looked good in a dark kind of way.
I guess I can understand that it's disappointing for the people who went expecting an Aliens prequel though.
-
I didn't even go to see it as I'm tired of reboots, redoes, and prequels entirely. I usually only go see a move anymore if its an original idea otherwise I wait for it to come out on DVD.
-
I liked the movie, even though one of my friends who saw it with me hated it when we got out. Once we had discussed some of the more subtle elements though he it started to grow on him. As for me, I thought it was pretty entertaining.

I know when you watch a movie, there is a certain level of "suspension of disbelief" one must have in order to enjoy the movie.
I could buy into space travel, aliens, "engineer" beings, and robotic humanoids. But when she had the "c-section" and then got up and ran down the hall, I had to call BS. Having had a c-section myself, there was no way in hell, regardless of how many shots of pain meds she took, that she'd be running, or much walking for that matter, for several days.Other than that, I enjoyed the movie. It was a good scifi-horror flick.
-
I was bored to tears after the first 40 minutes or so. From these many "good" reviews, I am left wondering if we watched the same movie?
The one that had more open endings and unfinished stories than the times I have left CoA and returned?
I love the Alien Universe. I agree its one of, if not the, prettiest movie I have seen since Avatar. But for story telling purposes, it seemed like what I would call a "Caek" or Koririn". Excellent Application and start, so so so many unfinished plot lines and stories.
-
They leave those holes open for more sequels
-
I would have much rather seen where the Predators come from.

Way too many questions left unanswered. "Oh we r find planet with peoples who create us! Lets wake up dis one, derp. Oh noes he kills us all without reason or anything"
The CGI was impressive but I'm more of a story kind of person. The flashy effects and massive scenes weren't enough for me to overlook the horrible amount of plot holes
-
Most disappointing film ive seen in a long long time.
I love Scott's films and would argue he has never made a bad film….until now.
I took my sons to see it telling them how fantastic it was going to be they hated it.
It was boring was not a horror in any shape or form there was no surprises or anything to make you jump.
Yes it had very nice CGI but that was all it had nothing was resolved nothing was done of importance and to link it to the alien film is so full of plot holes as to be insulting.
Just hoping batman is good or this is going to be a bad year for films. -
@Amy:

I don't know about you, but when that snake thing broke that dudes arm, forced it's way into his suit, and then into his mouth . . . that made me jump a bit, and definitely made me squirm in my seat Shudders.

Totally spoilered, but totally hilarious
-
To think this film dissuaded del Toro to continue to push for his film adaptation of Lovecrafts "At the Mountains of Madness" due to "resemblances in the story" is disappointing to say the least, especially when you see it.
-
The movie had no idea what it was trying to do, that's why it failed.
It wanted to be a horror movie, but never committed, and everything else happening was made silly by the horror aspects.
-
What i dont understand is.. this movie supos to apen befor allien…but the humans technologie look more evoluated of in all the alliens movies....
as thos litle scanning flying balls...capable to detect evrything... compar of the litle shity mouvement detector make bip bip bip in the old movies...
-
That because the guys in Prometheus have a far bigger budget backing them then the pod sods in the alien movies.
