Bidding on Alts

@--lizard-man--:
I like what O'louth did with his auction.
except he doesn't answer related messages. :)
Olouth decided to retire the character, rather than selling all his crap. I didnt feel like simply "throwing loot on to others", and since I couldnt care less who it went to OOC, but would have IC, I decided it was best to just stop the auction all together.
But yes. If I ever do an auction again, I will reward interesting stories far more than Gold.
And just to be clear, I had INSANE amounts for the items listed. I could easily have made 100.000 gold pieces if I sold it all.

Not saying your way is wrong or right but I always throw my gear and gold away at my characters friends after I quit a character.

Please don't do this except in exceptional circumstances. Handing a few choice items to a few friends is one thing, passing on all your belongings as you leave the region for pastures new is not on. You character would not be traveling naked and without coin.
We want players PCs to earn their loot from doing awesome, not have it handed to them because another player got fed up with a character and WL'd it.

@21:
Also DMs should dish out gold to characters they see doing well, as well as RP XP. Gold pushes plots!
Pretty sure they already do this. But yeah, an NPC giving you a gold reward would be pretty sweet. Though, at the end of a 'Dm event/quest' you normally end up with some gold (even if it doesnt half cover the expenses)

Not so much from DM quests / events…like RP XP but RP GP instead.

An "Alt"? What's an "Alt"?

I need lessons on how to do this. Please teach me =)

My reason for starting this thread was the whole people jumping on Alts that they never play for said Auction, especially when it seems a bit like you could be trying to block a bid of your main PC's enemy. Honestly, if you play your alt more then once in a blue moon, I don't see a problem with it. I just don't like the people who have one Alt they play in between PC's and pretty much just powerquest through stuff, then drop them the moment their App gets approved or w/e. I don't expect it to be a rule just wanted to see if the DM's agree that some courtesy should be shown.
Honestly, if I were to ever bid with an Alt, if someone else's main were going after that item, I would let them have it instead of pushing that bid up to like double the item worth.
Something I did notice is that a lot of the people who I notice doing this are also usually the Alts that they use to get in on a DM event that their main can't get into. Idk, just my opinion and observations.

Ok, lets stop harassing people who play Alts.
If you wish to play an Alt, or two or three, you are welcome to do so, and that includes bidding on auctions. As a DM I am well happy to see uber-loot withdrawn from the community by an alt that is rarely played. That Uber-Loot was given as a reward to one player for exceptional play and to see it passed from hand to hand for coin just makes me a sad bunny. So, Alts, bid on that loot and take it out of circulation! Lets see the Main Characters earn their loot by exceptional game play.
If you are playing an Application Character, the terms of the Application make it clear that you are expected to play the Application character for the majority of your time; my view would be "at least 90%." We've given you a perk, you now have obligations to deliver on that perk.
Using Alts to squeeze onto DM plots because your Main does not fit, is lame. If you do, you are probably squeezing out someone-elses Main character wwho is trying to further plots. All in all a Lame thing.
