Make Use Magical Device a class skill or allow them to use arcane wands until monk kits are enabled? I find they are a bit underpowered with the HP levels, and really need a pocket wizzie to be effective (which kind of worked with Tower but not so much any more).

Short answer: No.
Long answer: monks will get really cool stuff once we work out kits but they are not top on the "To Do" list at the moment. -
In the interest of clarity and transparency there are no plans to make any changes to the monk for the foreseeable future.
When we have completed the many other projects and higher priority classes this will be looked at along with kits for other classes.

A few monk only items wouldn't be hard to do and would give the class the bit of help they currently need.
Ac buffing robes would help them get around the unbuffed ac is terrible issue, without making them insane when buffed up... since mage armour doesn't stack with it.
Monk gloves with bonues that arn't really seen on swords and the like could give them a nice boon too.

There are tons of monk items in the lesser used prestige shops. Hint, check outside the city

I play the monk Atrick and even though I haven't survived a DM event yet, I'm good with how their mechanics work in game.
I've always viewed them as more of a general support class that lies somewhere between the tanking ability of a plate wearing fighter and the damage dealing of a rogue. Monks have pretty solid saving throws and some handy feats that give their own advantages in a fight, too.
Also, I could have chosen my stats a little different for some extra bonuses in combat, but didn't think that'd fit the concept I had for him.

Frontline fighter can hit ac around mid 20s so point abt monk (with no loot) is that is possible with buffs. It is true they also bring other stuff to the table though

Monks are a really, really good and DANGEROUS class. The main issue is that they REQUIRE good buffs and supplies. Things will be a lot more manageable and easier once cheaper supplies are in for potions and the like, giving monks a hell of a lot of a better life. They can be incredibly powerful, and they are very hard to balance well without going completely out of hand.
