Stuck in Limbo
-
Over the past few weeks my appearances into CoA were rare. I hop on, hop off. Do maybe one or two quests, taunt people in OOC, try to get somewhat mobilized to hook myself onto a plot, or join a player faction to find something interesting to do. I am unable to do so.
After dinging level 11 with my Necromancer (Wait, was it Eleven or ten?) all interest in advancing him further faded away into nothingness. I tried then to play a Cleric of Helm for one of the player factions. Initial enthusiasm died when I realised "I did this before". I checked my character list and out of the midst of PCs that were on it the only two that brought back a sparkle of optimism were both formaly deceased or retired.
So, I sat down and pondered on whome would I want to play, and all I get was a broken record of things I have done before and I knew I would not enjoy going over again.
Wizards, done and overdone. "Knights", not realy into it anymore. Merentalism is demanding, and only enjoyable occasionaly. "Spiritual" classes I feel somewhat disconnected from. Did try a Druid and different Clerics but they no longer appeal to me. Rogue, yes, done and I somewhat do not feel I can outbid my older creation whome I enjoyed playing so much.
Perhaps the player base could chuck some idea my way of something I could attempt. For now I cannot find anything from the top of my mind that would fascinate me. Well, at least nothing that would not mean my death immediately upon entering the city.

The problem you seem to be having is that you're seeing your characters as their class, rather than the idea behind them, or their concept.
Rather than thinking "Just another rogue", add some spice to it that makes him radically different than your last rogue. Give him a goal to try and accomplish that will earn him some enemies and allies. I can garuntee you that if you make a character with a clearly defined goal to work toward, and not only do you know some steps to accomplishing it but actively work toward accomplishing it, you'll never be bored.
ie: A rogue from Luskan brought up in the slums but always yearning to earn his place among the higher class of people, the Pirates and Mages who govern the lands. This character has come to Arabel and seeks to conquer a piece of land to later be turned over to Luskan. He goes about this through political manipulation of factions, attempting to round up a pirate crew to aid him in his task, work for or with various factions and monsters of the area in an attempt to earn favors and aid as he slowly attempts to conquer [insert generic piece of land].
Please don't steal mah idea, but I hope you get the point. Don't make "Just another rogue", make a unique and interesting rogue who'll rock hard and change the way people look at the server forever.

Something that will shake the playerbase, something not destined to live long, but going in a blast. Something meant to entertain others, keep them busy chasing you, hunting you, hiding from you, gathering informations on you.

After reading your PMs, I don't see that as being beneficial to the server.

Uh oh…. you can read my PM's? I thought this was a good place to hide all my illegal smuggling information. Damn.... now I'm in trouble.

Consider this your invitation, not that you ever need one, to join us in #coacharacters. We're happy to help brainstorming, concept help, and even application writing.
Anyone who'd like to make themselves available to help out their fellow players are welcome to come and hang out in the channel as well. It's there for the entire community and the more we help each other out, the better for everyone.
Cheers,

Serious suggestion from Geekie.
Those guys in IRC #coacharacters really do help you throw away the dross and hone in on the gems of your ideas. They also help you build on those gems into something you can discuss reasonably with a DM.
