New Subrace System
-
The new system will provide actual stat increases, rather than the magical hide-based ones used currently. For example, a subrace with +2 to Intelligence will actually get an additional skill point every level.
This is now online for the common subraces ( sun / wood / wild elf, gold dwarves) as of next reset. Application subraces will be on the old system until this weekend.
Important note for subraces with a negative to intelligence:-
The Wood and Wild elves get -2 to Intelligence, which would translate to the loss of 4 skill points on character creation. However, as subraces are applied after creation, this cannot be applied while creating the character.
Therefore, when creating a PC with a subrace that has -2 to Intelligence, leave 4 skill points unspent. The 4 unspent skill points will be removed after the subrace is applied. If you do not do this, your character will be invalidated and you will not be able to login.
Existing characters, please contact a DM to get a level taken off and put back on, so you can leave 4 skill points unspent, or your characters will be invalidated.
Subraces will be applied only after the PC has left the starting area.

The subrace system has been overhauled.
Subraces will now get base stat, skill, AC, save increases depending on what their subrace is. In the old system, all bonuses / negatives were magical ones, so some wouldn't stack with item or potion use.
In the current system:-
- Actual stat increases
- Actual skill increases, meaning skill bonus items will stack with subrace skill bonuses
- Actual save increases
- Actual AC increases, meaning that items that increase natural AC will stack with subrace natural AC increases
Subraces also get appropriate racial types applied to them. Lycanthropes will be vulnerable to silver weapons in human form, and Outsider PCs can be turned by clerics and stunned by the Lesser Planar Binding spell, similar to NPC outsiders. Items with bonuses vs shapechanger/outsider/undead will work on PCs the same as on NPCs.

Certain subraces can be applied as templates. Fey touched, lycanthropes, half dragons can be applied on top of any existing base race, this includes the common subraces such as sun / wood / wild elves and gold dwarves.
