Concepts Wanted for Long-Term Plot

I'm currently looking for character submissions for a long-term plot. Any background or idea will fit. The plot itself will involve discovering secrets, a little prophecy, some dark revelations and will likely have a fairly gothic-fantasy feel to it.
Characters must be at least 20 years old but no more than 520 in the case of longer-lived subraces.
This plot will necessitate a few requirements if you want to join:
1). You must be committed to the character. The plot may run a few months at least, I don't want to work a concept into it if you won't stick to it that long.
2). The plot will involve PvP and PvM situations that involve permadeath with no possibility of a raise. Please know our PvP Rules.
3). Characters can be standard races, but due to the nature of the plot some less usual races will be acceptable (any race or subrace really). You must still apply if you are not a standard race.
4). Any background, class, alignment, race is acceptable. Characters will still start out first level though. As PvP is a part of this concept, I will want to see all the character builds in advance though and reserve the right to ask for adjustments as necessary.
5). PM me any ideas in a message titled PLOT (all caps please-makes it less likely I will miss the message).

Just an FYI: I'm still looking for people for this. The more people, the more interesting things should get as the story unfolds.
I hope to run some of the first introduction quests for players next weekend and the weekend after that. So there's still some time to get involved and talk to me about an idea.

I'm going to start running the introductory scenes for characters involved on this. If you still want to join, hurry up and let me know before things are in full swing.
All PCs must begin in their "home" wherever that may be, most likely with a guardian or close ally who provides guidance and advise. The story picks up there and will bring you to Arabel.

Contact me about running the first scene for your character in IRC, or try to arrange a time with me we can run the first scene for the plotline. If you haven't yet, please post up your normal playtimes so I can hunt people down who want to be involved.
