Where did your character name come from?
-
I just pushed the random name button, what popped up i thought was quite funny so i went with it.
-
I just kept pressing the NWN random name generator until Adam Steel came up. Nefari al-Naklawi was a combination of a former Egyptian boss of mine, Hassan al-Naklawi, with a more nefarious first name. Others names just come to me. I can actually think of interesting names pretty quick most of the time… I write fiction. Meh.

I cheat. Candlekeep forums, "Elven Names." It's FR, so not many can tell the difference anyways.
-
Landon Tyrell = Landon is the name I came up with when someone asked me what I would want to name my son and Tyrell is based off the noble family in Song of Ice and Fire.
Laer'Megil Faerondarl = Laer'Megil means sword song from an elvish translator. Me and Seter came up with it as he was supposed to become a blade singer. Faerondarl is a fallen elven noble house. Picked it because it has a similar coat of arms to my real family crest.
Vincent Le'Chance = Was bored and wanted to play CoA again so I spent about an hour typing up names until I found one that seemed to fit the personality of my latest character.

Tamsin Harte is the title character to a book I have - strong minded yet innocent about the world and it's ways - good book set in the early 1900's.
Penty Hinckies - I had the name Penty for a halfling, then just hit the random button until I came up with a funny combination.
Maisy/Daisy Hinchmane - Gorga and I thought it would be fun to make identical twins of some sort… the name is totally made up - but everything is the same on them except stats and class...
Diesa Stonehart - Dwarf I made for PnP

I tend to give my characters names originating from medieval england in the late 1300's, primarily the 1379 Subsidy Tax Rolls, which happen to be closest to the time period the server is in. Also, Faerun is basically a super-continent comprised of Europe (Cormyr/Moonsea, etc.) and Africa (Mulholrand, Chult, etc).
-
I generally just think up a couple of names, and mix, match and bend until I have something I like. Occationally, like with my old halfling fighter Chand, I look up some racial lore, and borrow some famous guy to be named after.

Grogal Shagorath - Stole it from the Orc Namestyle of The Elder Scrolls. The King in Yellow - Stole it from Lovecraft

Unspeakable things. The poor penguin.
-
Caek, how did you come up with your Mages Guild/Vampire's character name?
-
Elsbeth - my take on Erzsébet Báthory
Raslyn Dracart - I wanted something that sounded vampiric in nature. Hm.. I'm sensing a trend..
Ivy Roth- duh.
Deidre O'Connell – Abby made it up for me.
-
Asari Matriarch and Protoss Matriarch. And was just looking for a fun lady title.
-
Interesting topic.
Let's see.
Vorn Xarran was made up. From two Drow first names. His real name was Syrin Maneral, which I just made up.
Sebastian Vhoor was suggested by Amber. Sebastian is an awesome noble name. Vhoor (ugh) was unfortunately foisted on me by The King in Yellow.
Nathaniel Reyn came from an old EO NPC, Acolyte Reyn. Nathaniel was again suggested by Amber, and it just fit like a glove.
Evemerus Lycanther had me foxed for a while. Evemerus is made up. Being a Halruuan, I figured a netherese name would not be out of place. Lycanther is a noble family of ancient Netheril, acquired from the Candlekeep site.
Polaris is a lovecraftian monster as detailed by H.P. Lovecraft in his short story entitled Polaris. Aside from also being the current Pole Star, of course.
Fun fact. The King in Yellow is not lovecraftian. It was conceived by Robert W. Chambers, who wrote a book of the same name. I suggest a read, it's quite interesting.

Muhandir Abu Kalumjaka- Came from the show Heroes who had a dude named Mohinder, so I came up with more Indian names to come up with Muhandir Abu Kalumjaka.
Damien Locke: I'm sure you know who John Locke is. I just wanted to be ironic, sort of, I guess, so I wanted a first name by the most evil sounding short name I could think of. Damien.Nomak Su'Scrofa: Nomak came from Blade 2, who had a villain named Jared Nomak. His last name means boar in Latin. Wereboar, GET IT!?
Jamendithas Foechuckle: That name came completely from Loonaya. She and I were thinking of silly gnome names together, and she was extremely helpful in coming up with a random gnome name for me. I still regret using Foechuckle for a salesman concept. I feel it could be a really cool barbarian gnome name.
Cyrus Kravul: Surprisingly, I never even heard of Miley Cyrus. Some DM changed my title to that when I wasn't looking, and it just stuck. The name just sounded cool, so I called him that. Also, Kravul is just a switch around from Kraven from Underworld.
Cornelius Honeydew: I just wanted the least intimidating guard name ever created. There ya go. -
I'll play.
Danu. My first character. I came in knowing little of the forgotten realms. I named her after the mother of the Tuatha De Danann, an ancient Celtic People.
Serenity - too many episodes of Firefly? Not sure really, but I liked the character that the name churned up so I went with it.
Amarantha Pricklypear - floral name with a little duality.
Morrigan - again I loves me some Celtic mythology.
There have been others but I'm done typing on my phone for now.
Cheers.

Ingrid - It's a favorite name of mine, one that evokes thoughts of strong female characters. Name was also inspired by a character I used to RP with on CoA a long time back, Ingrid Rasserblit (iirc).
Roathus Lemaign - Both are names of gods in the Bastion lore, and I just thought the name Lemaign sounded so awesome! It makes me think of Western steampunk for some reason.
Sabel Nilus - Always liked the name Sabel, ever since the Able Sisters from Animal Crossing. I think it's a cute name. Nilus was inspired by Nihlus Kryik, a character from the first Mass Effect game.
Roxanne Beretta - This one's easy. What's the one song that people think of when they see the name ROOOXANNE? Beretta because it sounded posh and cultured.
-
Mr. Bacon - Mister, indicates that I am a gentleman. Bacon, most delicious part of the beast.
