STO joins the free to play crowd

Seems like it couldn't make it based on subscription alone, however I might give it another try since it couldn't hurt now that it will be free to play in the near future. We will see how much better it gets as time goes on. -
There are better avenues to waste your time and patience with online…Don't be a Syntax.
-
yeah probably better just to wait until Guild Wars 2 comes out. Now that is one game that will kick some ass.

FUCK YES!

Anyone plays GW 1 still?
-
Who can play Guild Wars 1 and not feel ashamed when seeing the awesomeness guild wars 2 is gonna bring. I'm hoping we can start our own RP guild if enough people here get it. Though I am keeping my eye on Neverwinter Online in case they decide to add pw functionality later

Neverwinter Online?

Ugh, hell no. Used to a couple years ago. Was part of this PvP guild…was fun. But the additions to GW2 just makes me think they can go farther than the good PvP they had with the first one.

I suppose we'll have a good number of people from CoA trying it out. However, good luck with that RP thing…and that NWN Online thing...I smell disappointment.

The use of personal stories make RPing much more viable than in other MMOs but we will see how it plays out, plus with traditional quests being replaced by dynamic events I can see a number of guilds spawning around that factor. Hopefully we get a public beta before the end of the year is out.
-
Jeez, if the beta does go open this year, my free time will probably cease to exist again. I'm really interested in seeing how it'll face up with that Star wars MMO everyone seems to have forgotten about/written off by now.
-
I was going to dig up my GW1 CDs again but I figure I'll wait till the sequal and waste my life then.
Why does this game still exist btw?
-
The Star Wars MMO will probably get its share of fans because so many people loved KoTR unless the devs completely blow it. Guild Wars 2 will probably take a lot of way from the WoW crowd making it second best with KoTR possibly coming in third.
-
The WoW crowd is already moving to Rift.

saw neverwinter on advanced sale on amazon

http://www.mmorpg.com/gamelist.cfm/game ... irmed.html Seems like Planetside 2 is jumping on the bandwagon too. I just might have to try this one out now
-
There is of course free to play like LoL and free to play like LOTRO/CO etc. The latter aren't quite pay to win, but are pretty much "pay unless you want to have 1 bag instead of 5" etc that make the gameplay shitty. LoL free play is perfectly viable.
-
In an interview translated from a Chinese gaming site, it has been revealed that Planetside 2 will be free to play. Planetside-Universe has confirmed with John Smedley that the game will be free to play but that "the specific details of the charges has not been determined".
Smedley indicated that he was unwilling to reveal any details about the F2P model but did drop a small hint in the form of "we like League of Legends a lot".
I'm thoroughly enjoying this Free 2 Play movement started successfully by LoL.
-
LoL in no way shape or form started, nor popularized the free to play movement. As best I can tell, Maple Story did that something like 8 years ago.

I'd say Runescape, 10 years ago.

Good, cause i didn't say it did. Cause obviously LoL is a [keyword]successfully[/keyword] planned F2P game, and other older shit games people had to pay for (HoN, STO) and new games are trying to copy its business model.
