Roleplay Recognition
-
I have noticed that no one has posted extra special notice of wonderful RP in three weeks. Has the server lost all it's Roleplayers? Have they gone to sleep? Is that special kind of Roleplay the server has been known for died?
-
I tend to use tells for that.
-
It's still around. I never saw much point in making a forum post about it, as I use tells or party chat to let people know I'm digging whatever is going on.
-
I dislike the RP forum for the most part, having seen it as a horrible circle jerk fest in the past it sort of makes me cringe a little bit.
I just stick to tells

The CoA community is more close knit that it was before. People have been RPing with everyone for a while now, and everyone has got used to everyone's style.
To me the RP rec thread is becoming redundant. People are confident enough in thier abilities to not have them validated on the forums. Plus it's often a boring read for everyone else, reading through how Jonny shieldbags thinks Phillip bowbags did some good emotes on loggers camp. I'm with most of the people here. If I have fun with another person's RP, I usually shoot them a tell saying stuff like "Had fun man, your character is fleshed out really well" etc.
We don't really need a forum to tell us how ace the RP is on CoA, we already know.
-
Yep. Stick to tells.
-
If people are not longer feeling the need to use it than scrap it.

I find tells better too, the forum section reminds me of the monthly newsletter at my old workplace where the company directors would basically pat each other on the back.

I don't know, I could be way off base here but lately its seemed like there is less friendly comraderie these days and people are more just doing there own thing. Sometimes it seems like people are being more critical of eachother and there seems to be a lessening of the community spirit. Part of the reason I haven't played in a while was because it seemed like it was harder to make friends with people OOCly then it used to be, and I always prefer roleplaying with players I'm friendly with then ones who I only know as their characters.

To be honest i leave what happens in game in game and tell them i had fun or a quick thankyou if they made it fun for me.
I never saw the point of the forum as it's just the same peaple telling each other how much fun they had in game. -
Nothing wrong with that. I think anything that makes people feel good about playing this game is a good thing, whether its getting a tell in game or reading about it on the forums.
-
Leave it up. Never bad to give yourself another opportunity to receive a pat on the back.
It's not like it's lagging the server or anything.

If we had fun, we had fun. Is there really a need to thank people for investing time in having fun with you? Isn't that why we all come here? I spend time with you just as much as you spend time with me. Simple.
We interact, argue, flirt, fight, talk, plot, plan, adventure, etc together. We do things and enjoy it. Thats it. Its the point of this place and its why we waste time here.
I'm actually a bit annoyed when people send me tells saying "Thanks for the RP!" like it was something out of the ordinary. This server is about RP. I come here to play and have fun. I don't see why people should thank me for that. If I enjoyed it that is all the reward I need. If I don't enjoy it I'll find something else to do. I do however expect people to make an effort of portraying their characters when playing here. Its not that much to ask.
I don't intend to be an ass about this, but that is just my opinion.

I often use tells to pat someone´s shoulder for extraordinary RP.
Personally I feel the RP recognition forum should be used more often. It is always nice to gain positive feedback and the forum often directs me to new characters that I haven´t yet interacted with. -
I recieve way more tells about my RP than I see posts in the recognition thread, and I tend to send tells to people I have fun with. I think the recognition thread is better used for extraordinary "accomplishments" recognition than your general "pat on the back".
You are all stellar, btw

DOes that include me?!?

maonz
Probably the greatest compliment I gave someone in a tell. Ever.
