No Interest in DM Factions?

I think that if we had some big changes in the factions, adding new ones in, maybe phasing some out, I think you'd see more people willing to apply for all the different factions. I'm really hoping the Grodd army will come to and rain destruction upon the land just to throw everything out of whack. To me, change is almost always a good thing, and especially on a server as old as this is, I think most players appreciate seeing new things more often.

Ditto that. Things feel pretty stale right now.

I suspect the lack of faction members right now is due to lack of any real feeling of threat. The Grodd are minding there own business, the demons arn't really effecting anything large scale (Yet) and the slime cult. Bad asses they are, are not doing anything of a real threat to the city. Short of destroying the glade and slaying big things left and right. But I suspect they have got some bigger plans that will change that.

Wow. I've never seen so many false statements in one comment. Faction membership always fluctuates, it's about as simple as that. Some fresh blood would be welcome though, as would be doing away with a few older ones. Red Hart are the only ones that interest me anymore, they just need more active folks.

I'd like to see another openly evil DM faction.
I was interested in making a Zhent when I started playing again, but thought the faction was full due to the list thingy. :(
Which seems like a shame considering the addition of Zhentil Keep to the server.
-
I was never a fan of the Zhentarim being a public faction. I've always preferred them to be quiet and mafioso.
-
Zhents are so cliche!
More non-cannon stuff using the collective thinking awesome of the DM team (The EO and the Pilgrims fyi)
-
Gypsies imo
-
@AWESOMEMAN:
Gypsies imo
We had halfling gypsies for a while. Personally, I thought they were cool as hell and ultimately spear-headed the shift away from traditional black-clad pickpockets.
Immersea Pirate faction imo.

Muh, I must just be out of the loop or something on all the plots. Short of the eye cult, except for today I haven't seen much activity from anything.
(We should really update Tyches challange, there are so many badys around!)
-
There is a whole lot of activity going on. There are 3 evil factions, only one of them is the Elder Eye. There is 2 good factions.
Red Hart seem to be doing mostly DM stuff.
MG hasn't stopped looting ruins to pause for breath. (except to insult ppl!)
PDs have been trying hard, but with only 1 PC, its hard. (though I hear they have new blood!)
Sheriffs are dead in the water. Crey's gone rogue, kill Daventree, while Montague hasn't been on much.
CoG seems to be much less active than just a month ago.Basically the PC factions are providing all the excitement, all the fun, and all the intrigue, I get the feeling the DM factions are just playing catch-up inbetween doing DM events.
Edit: I count maybe 27-28 evil characters atm, doing evil things or biding their time till they get more levels.
-
It's more like Olouth ragequitted than a Sheriff death.
-
I like quirky, ragtag bands of misfit adventurers out for excitement and fun. I feel like, since the Adventurer's Guild was ended, only PC factions have been able to capture that feeling. Well, CoG has the spirit of excitement and fun, but I don't want to play an inventor. Also, I don't like uniforms.
-
In may be just my opinion, but why are almost all the DM factions struggling hard for membership, while the PC factions are positively brimming with activity and numbers?
I find there are a pretty decent number of players in DM factions. There have always been more in PC factions because they are so much easier to join. That's just how it goes. DM factions today I feel are pretty active, the players are just more quiet about the goings ons.
Activity i've noticed varies depending on when you log in. 4am my time, 90% of the server is as quiet as the Parry Hatter quest. Usually can only find Gmork hard at work, making things brutal.
-
Activity in DM factions that has been mentioned above is heavily linked to exams period and various odd computer issues. Mostly the former. As vacation starts in a week or two for most people, activity in general, as well as DM factions will pick up.
Speaking for CoG; it now has 4 members, all whom are out due to school (except Loony).
DM events often take a lot of time, and pushing personal plots even more so. That often leaves limited time to deal with the likes of the slime cult (who appears to have a lot of IG time on their hands). Seeing as they have little active opposition they can thrive. Once IG activity picks up, more things are likely to happen in the coming weeks (hopefully). -
I'm the opposite. Vacation starts and I have less time for CoA, even if I have more "free" time.
-
Summer has always been historically slow in the server

Yeah, I mean Zhent agents or Shadovar agents, or something would be cool. But at least make it OOCly public, otherwise you get into that situation where people can't apply for the faction because they don't know it exists.
When I first started playing on CoA, I had a thief, who wanted to join a Thieves Guild. I couldn't find one, so just went with PC factions.
A year of playing later, I discovered there'd been a DM faction "thieves guild" all along which I'd never known about because it was so ultra secret.
On top of this, if faction members are in a different timezone as well, then you've got not much chance of finding anything about it IG.
It was kind of frustrating, to be honest.
@Neolithic:
Immersea Pirate faction imo.
I'd be pretty down with this. Already have a Pirate alt. Mainly 'cause I came home from watching Pirates of the Caribbean after a few drinks…
