Elven defence league?!
-
Hey there looking for some good advice.
The elves on this server seem to get pushed around unless they align themselves with the human orders such as the knightly orders. The dwarves seem very powerful, but i think their clan style backgrounds helps to make them more influential than perhaps their numbers would dictate.
Now im considering trying to organise an elven political/criminal/military grouping. Throw in some chaotic behaviour plus a sprinkle of evil (beating up new dwarves to scare them away from joining the powerful clans chaotic, throwing petrol bombs? aka alchemist fire at dwarven political charactersevil)
My primary concern is the touchy issue of racism. Im just wondering in a 12+ game is this too mature? Secondly would any elves actually join? maybe a few seeking more collectivness and influence, but i doubt even if i tried to hand pick the elves from the groups to offer then the evil jobs 99% of them would refuse.
Basically is this allowed? too mature? even possible?
People seem to assume evil elves = drow but surely that cant be true? evil dwarf does not = duergar. surely based on background/ upbringing than race?
THanks sorry for long post.

Also just to state the views expressed about racism are not mine. The use of elven defence league was just an example of another POTENTIALLY viewed as racist group English defence league. I am not connected to said group in any way and do not know enough about them to pass any judgement.
THanks :D

Militant elves is definitely a viable concept, and I think there might already be an elven group you could join up with an then convince them to follow your characters views. Would be easier then forming your own group, but creating a new faction is also a acceptable way to go.
As for evil elves, every race has its bad apples. Doubt there would be any problem there other then the ones you'd encounter ICly.
-
Maybe the IRA would be a better example.
-
Just tweek it and make it more entertaining for people. Evil is all well and good but beating up new Dwarf PC's and just attacking them for no reason isn't really evil its borderline griefer.
-
Yes I was going to suggest griefing issues.
Maybe just pin him up to the wall and say like if we ever see you wearing the clan colours we know where you and your family lives?
Also in terms of rp…say 5 elves pretty new to the server like lvl 3/4/5 corner an established dwarf character lvl8.
In terms of rp since he is so outnumbered and "outmatched" would it be fair to say we could intimidate him..maybe push him about..taunt him not the skill just convo without him taking out his magical greataxe and literally just greatcleaving our entire group?
-
I was interested until the word "elven"…
Just a note: All of my characters have been racist to elves.
-
I know that alot of people play issues of race in their characters. My elf dislakes alot of people due to their races.
However i just wasnt sure about creating a group which had some racial issues as some of the core components.
-
It could work…but think of creating a faction or any character as writing those crappy Dm apps (sigh).
If you want others to join you, you'll have to ajoint your thought process outside just PvP (although that's enough for me).
The Why is fine. Its the "How":
Maybe look into...
1. Gaining prestige with certain factions = Being more than a gang of annoying gankers.
2. Think about setting up trade route raids of Thunderholme with that support = Moe money in your sissy elven pockets
3. Networking with other racists = More support from regular PC's who while may not be elven, hate the other races than their own as much as you do = Fodder you can use for your own goal orientation, no need to get your hands dirty as much.
Welp...thats all I got...or all I'm willing to type. kay bye.

There is an elven group that is very very similar to the one you have in mind. We weren't really active during the holidays, but I expect that to change in the coming days.

Bear in mind that this goes in phases. I can remember, not to long ago when dwarves were less than influential and Elves had a certain power in issues.
I think it takes some luck, an attractive faction purpose and one or two key faction members to gain the momentum to generate what you're looking for. I'd suggest chatting with Smirnoff OOC about the plans of the existing Elven League. Duplicating the efforts on another PC faction is going to waterdown what each faction might want to achieve.

@Deadlock:
attractive faction purpose

I bet Deadlock said that just to give an excuse to have that log posted up again.

Can we blame him?

Don't forget that in the Forgotten Realms there is NO inbuilt animosity between Dwarves and Elves, although the two races are very different and have little in common they have no history of conflict or disagreement so on the whole, they tend to get on with each other as well as they do any other race.
This world is not Middle Earth or the Warhammer world where they two races have a long and bitter history of mutual mistrust/hate.
-
Let make this clear Elves/Dwarves have a long dark history with DROW and ORCS there alot of hate there
-
Yes. but not between each other.
There is no history of any aggression between the two races as far as I can remember. Many people created Elves that hate dwarves, or dwarves that hate elves, because that is the established norm thanks to Tolkein/Games Workshop.

Due to IG happenings, there are some reasons why each race hates each other. Atleast reasons why the dwarves have been nasty to the elves latley

Granted, no elven group or dwarven group tends to outlast its founding player.
