2010 Hak Debate

You cant get squat for 10mb.
-
10MB was started by me, and I should've clarified I meant 10MB zipped, which can easily turn into 100+ unzipped, hence my comment about advances in compression technology.
I'm pretty sure we're all fine with a small download that turns into a bigger one unzipped, unless we're all trying to play on 56k dialups with "State of the Art" 4GB drives. ;)

I think my NWN folder exceeds 4 GB alone.
Also: what is wrong with the scripted changes we already have? Do we really need haks to add to it? I'd say no. No haks and minimal mods was the main reason I came here and stayed. The mods we do have are quite cool, and I enjoy them, but I don't think involving any haks at this state is of any use.

Hey!
I used to play nwn on my comp that had 4gb of free space (12 actually, split into 3 drives) and had a 56k dialup. It kept so loud noise which I didnn't know how to shut down that I had to bury it under pillows so as to not wake the neighbours when I wanted to get to the internet at night. >.>

nothing is wrong with what we have, but if it can be made better and create more fun, then why not go for it
with no addons whatso ever everyone sits at 6gb for the game, i checked mine is 21
but i have haks for four different custom worlds and the cep in place to go that high
unless someone is working with small hd space, honestly why would you not want more fun added

I'd have no problems downloading a hak. It has the potential to add a lot to the server, since there's a lot you just can't do with scripts alone.
-
I am tempted to come back to NWN and CoA anyways. Knowing that there was a lot of new and exciting content would make it even harder to resist (and more likely to find the time for it somewhere).
To me personally, I'd rather have 100 or 250 mb instead of 10 - as long as that doesn't translate to a zillion clicks to install everything properly.
-
I'm okay with a hak as long as I will be able to install it good, and I will be able to play. I love CoA and I won't want anything to keep me from playing it. :(
-
Generally as long as you're not stupid with it or need something like CEP/PRC, hak installation is download -> unzip to /hak -> done.
-
Yeah, as long as there's a unified download. There's a program for easy installation as well, I think.
-
download haks and ill come back to coa, FACT.
-
Will i download it? yes.
Will we miss (some) new players? yesIs it worth it? Depends on what you put into it that adds A & I.
if it's for cosmetics, no.
if it could make DMs job easier when it comes to areas/quests/etc, yes. -
no such thing as new players, only players who have been playing nwn for a while and want something new. this is the part where the company usually goes about making an expansion to keep things fresh and get more money but bioware is onto better things :(
p.s. fk u obsidian

With the age of this server, it is a testament that it is still the awesome server it is without needing any haks.
Having said that, as long as it was not CEP and it added to the AWESOME of the server I am all for downloading/installing a hak to play on CoA

This completely changed my mind about the hak. If he's coming back, I'm going!
