Sexy New Eveningstar

Great work :)
I would have like to see more NPC guards in the town of EveningStar, but I guess this is due to possiable lag issues.
Havent had a full look, but from what I have seen from last night it looks great.

I was really impressed by the Watermill part, i was like "Woah, I'm traveling diagonally across a bridge! Ive never done this before!" But luckily I have traveled many bridges before in my time and managed to get across it just fine.
Thumbs up for the awesome doodad placements too.

I really like the way you have made it still look like the orginal road but with a more realistic look, the trees are nice and so is the smooth leveling of the ground. It makes you think you're walking up a large hill on a mountain's foot rather than the old pyramid leveling. I have to agreed that perhaps somewhere there could be a part of the river to cross, there's alot of fun stuffs you can do with a river.
Very nice area, I haven't gotten a proper look over it but the Gate area is very impressive, specialy the tower. On a curious note, what will happen if a hostile creature comes near the gate, will all the guards in the tower shoot it or run down? Nothing I expect to have been tested, but it just came to my mind.
-
I dont know if this has been suggested but if occasional fog could be added in the area it would add to the ambience with real nasty bandits hiding in the forest
-
This is probly more of a bug report, but, it's about the new changes to eveningstar I guess.
I noticed a stag watchman walking through starwater gorge and into the stormhorn mountains the other day. Probly needs some variable fixing or something.
-
The only bad thing about it, to me, is how it makes all the other areas look outdated and un-atmospheric (if that wasn't a word, it is one now).

It's been tested. They fire from the tower :)

Do you mean area fog or the placable patches of myst?

Thanks, I'll have a look

It looks great, but now everything else looks drab in comparison :P
-
I wouldn't say drab! Just doesn't look the same style.
-
Everything else looks more cartoony when compared to the new, gritty Eveningstar. I like the new, gritty Eveningstar, however. More grit, less cartoons!
-
Great job! A much more immersive atmosphere, now. I especially like the area with the two small waterfalls in series. It reminds me of a RL place I know. Thanks!
-
I honestly think this should be done to ALL if not most areas. This looks so much better and more "realistic" much easier for me to get into the mood of RPing and the setting in general. Everything looks so cheesy and cartoony in comparison and I have NEVER liked the "pyramid" like levels. Again, I cant stress enough how totally awesome I think this is, and should be carried through much of the server!
-
I jizzed my pants. thats how awesome it is

I actually have one more comment to make, I see many people want to be able to cross the river where ever or have more crossing points. I'd like the point out that not every place should be a creek that you can just walk through or wade in. I like having to use the bridges and I think it gives more RP oppertunitys like player characters being bandits and forcing people to pay tolls to cross, or "holding the bidge" against an assult of orcs or something like that, if its just a small creek you can wade through, like practically every other place with a bridge or something it makes those things less cool.

I was suggesting occasional area fog, paints a darker shade when you take the long route to eveningstar

That can be done, but it would require a script (perhaps a new weather system) that could control area lighting and fog.

I like it, but I imagine since its the new tilesets its going to lag for some people, I get an occasion stutter but nothing Im not use to (And my comps very good)
I think there could be less trees but the gate, to give it more open road
One thing I noticed was at night I found it very hard to see. If you have no light at all, you can't see crap at all (That parts cool I guess!) but with light, kinda hard to see still. Although I liked it in a way
Eveningstar looked good, reminded me of the 42 restuarants we have here, most with an outside place! Think i'll have to walk the road at day to get a better opinion on that.
-
looks very good.
The welcome to arabel signs used are the old pheonix legion ones, could use a description change.
As an addition, perhaps consider adding an odds and ends merchant and a smithy to eveningstar? would give it a self contained settlement type feel.
Just another 321342434131321 maps to go now, Gmork! :D

We should vote for the next are to get a total free makeover! Accompanied by videos of the plastic surgeon and his real life, and also the reasons for driving the area to such a life changing decission.
All in all the feeling is much better and the diagonal bridge did impress me too! We want more…

awsome, especially with the override i got, the forested part are real neat. the one downside was earlier named by karandil, its the evil unpassable steams. Having played a druid once, I know how annoying it is when you cant go around settlements/town/city. Otherwise, really cool! I out to get screenies to show the awsome with overide.
