The big Clar Banda Follow up discussion, with Kodus to KIY
-
I will start this, in the hope, that it wont turn into a rant. Because, I will admit, I woke up this morning, saw the god description on the Resource Forum, and thougth, "Freaking Sweet."
I have been on this server for way too long, 6 years and quite a bit on top of that, and that means I have been in a shit load of plots. And I can honestly say, I lost big time, IC, but Holy shit I won OOC, cause I have never had so much fun. Period.
I have never had so much player interaction on a single plot. Everyone, even my mother if i asked her, had some form of interaction with it. For the last week especially, I have played just around 18 hours a day, and 16 of them have had something to do with this plot. And 99% of it, i have seriously enjoyed.
The plot had so many angles. KiY and the other dms involved, managed for the first time in my playing time, to create a plot, where being the good guy, the real good guy, who took the High Road, the hardest to play.
I put alot of work into my concept, and twice now, I have had to step out of the game, sit down with a word document, and further develop the characters' personality, because the choices I was forced to make, were so difficult, that I wanted them to be the right ones.I was in The High Road "Group" in the plot, the good guys, who wanted to stop it, but did not want to accept the aid of devils to make it work.
I know full well, that we had a good fighting chance. However, I also knew OOC, that taking the high Road, would mean the chances of succes would be so much harder. As it should be.The Regeant part of the plot, was a new one, and a very interesting one. A whole new currency developped over night, with insane prices, which was awesome. As I also told KiY, the only thing I really got tired of, by the end, was the search for them, but that was only at the very end. It was a wicked way for us players to do stuff on our own.
Huge Kodus, KiY, its the best plot I have ever been part of. And to be honest, I didnt feel i lost.
That said, the plot isnt over just yet, still soem aftermatch stuff, but, I look forward to it.
So many layers, so many hard choices to make. Awesome month.

While I didn't play. nor interact with the plot that much with my character, I support the above rant. It was a really great effort that made the whole place and atmosphere a lot different than when I came here. At least for those players who knew what was going on and gave a shit.
Great effort, and great plot! Really well done. Truly enjoyed it. :)
Not impossible to see me with a cleric of Clar Banda in the future. :D -
I only came in near the end of this chapter here, but it was still great fun. There was certainly no quicker way to get involved with the server - in a matter of days I was fairly familiar with a goodly faction, was working for the sheriffs, had come to stand off with some others against an evil faction - and not in the permadeath manner that usually follows!
Good stuff :D my only gripe was that it was fairly impossible to ignore the plot and pursue one's own goals without becoming a cold scoundral, but I wasn't playing a character obliged to do very much so it was great!

Rant? Never!
I too can say that this was among the three best plots on CoA ever. I am here since 2003 and I have seen my share of plots but this one was so intense, so well played out, so many layered, so compelling - it was just an utterly awesome ride.
Yep, we had a chance but at the end mortal weakness prevailed us from succeeding and yes, Osynthir may have tipped the scale a bit against us. For my character it was the most intense RP I had ever witnessed, from one obsessed in defeating the Lich for all that is unnatural about her, over enduring Hallowfaust and its undead for they were the best option of defeating her to attempting to find a way to revive his dead love that he had attempted for the last 70 years.
At the end all came together in the most difficult choices, and I too was puzzled ooc as to what to do and how to react to all of it. It helped me create a most immersed and in depth character personality that I hope has also drawn some others in deeper.
The only sad part for me was that I couldn't log into CoA for the past couple of days due to personal reasons (club championship, loads of work, house hunting, etc.). Could I have swayed the outcome? Most likely not but I would have loved to be there for the wicked end and face all the shit thrown at my character from various factions. But then again, I am sure all of that will be waiting for me anyway ;-)
At the end I can only say - well done and what next? What next?!

I've been in the backgound in this plot for much of it, helping other characters do this and that. Making money off the Hedge Magic reagents.
Hedge Magic has been an awsome way for players to interact without needing DMs. Well done who ever thought that up. The market value of these has shifted from a few hundred lyons to thousands and back again as plots have needed them. The hunting for them has been dangerous and fun, and also has provided a real plot reason to explore the whole server for many characters. Some for just the market value, others because they wanted to create some awsome Hedge Magic, and still others because they were vital to a plot they were working on.
The sherrifs have done an awsome job of seeming to "put Arabel citizens first" what ever their underlying motives. What a corrupt bunch of bastards! The Court should hang 'em all high!
Team Good, lead by Lady Katelyn has had to face some really difficult "Ends Justify the means" type questions. But how I hate the fact that team good always seems to be divided except when it comes to the fighting.
Team Evil, some I knew IG, but there are a number out ther that I'm suspicious of. Well done for diverting the attention of team good away from yourselves onto Clar Banda so that you could carry out your nefarious actions, undisturbed by Team Good.
Team Money Makers, I think we did kinda well.
It has been nice seeing characters change allegiance for real IC reasons, seeing characters part of more than one plot grouping.
Spies, corruption, incorruptible good, lost hope, murder, muggings, pitchfork mobs, battles, many interim adventures, I agree with O'louth. This has been the best plot I have seen on Arabel in many a year.
Many thanks to all those I have interacted with in regards to this plot.

In hindsight, I should had allied with Banda… how foolish was I!

Now you know to hop onto the next Dracolich that enter the city and demand servitude.

I have greatly enjoyed playing in this plot with my character and despite being frustrated (characterwise in game at least) at the actions of a lot of other characters I cant say that they didnt make sense given the situation.
No idea how its going to evolve going ahead but the numerous death threats will at least keep me either in the tower or on my toes!

I’ve had a hand in a number of spinoffs which have been interesting, I think the plot engrossed the entire server as it was so easy to get involved in which I assume is the GM’s intention when heading a major project like Clar Banda.

Although Lucan died in vain, I am still impressed that the DMs put so much attention into this plot and helped it come to its conclusion.
Kudos, DMs!
-
I agree - this was some damn good plot. Even if Dante's faillure to fulfill his mission might result in some rather terrible IC repercussions, it was still funny to finally play some character who has actually something to deal ;). Kudos for everyone involved in it - a shame about so many "meanigless" deaths of the good guys, but well….
As as for the matter - Team Banda won. Team Evil lost alongside Team Good, I'd say.

Team Banda, may they be for ever anonymous :D Had a wide spectrum of alignments.

KiY is the best DM on CoA, no joke.
I enjoyed this plot both as a DM and a player. Loved it. Unfortunately it's very hard for people to appreciate how hard it is to sort out, get started, run and conclude a plot - let alone one like this.
I love KiY.

KiY: King of DMs
-
I agree that it was awesome. My only regret is that I really got to the action during the end part of it (In addition to seeing what I think could be called the prelude for it).
Kudos to KiY, to the team Good, To the Pilgrims, to team evil - and team banda. As a pilgrim, I hoped that we could have stopped Clar - as a player, I'm most excited to see her victorius.

Dangit. You know how hard we're going to have to work against Banda now? Uhg. You guys can't give us a break huh? D;

While not having the chances to play near as much as I would have liked, the parts I was involved with were exciting, both IC and OOC. Fantastic plot line, and one I enjoyed over any other thus far. Great job, to both KiY and the players.
