Idiotic Things I Did With My First Character
-
My very first character, back in 2005 or so, was a cleric of Kossuth named Caliphas Thermo (How original; I know.) He couldn't cast spells, since I had, of course, picked War and Healing for my domains, as they're the most uber. Upon entering Arabel, the first thing he did was ask the way to a shrine of Kossuth. Well, the only one was at the Thayan Enclave, where I wandered in and rang the bell. An irate Neveron Vrass (anybody remember him?) teleported in, and when I didn't have a good reason to ring the bell, demanded I pay him for wasting his time. I did.
And I've been hooked ever since.

I played a child with the halfling model!

wow, you all are such horrible people! i've been an angel… angle, which one is the guy with a halo? well i've been an angle/el from the beggining. Made a cleric, because, as we all know, clerics are the best class. well, little did i know that the PHB version 3.5 had no bearing in the forgotten realms. heres a normal conversation, the other person starting it ----"I've never heard of that one." PM "this is the forgotten realms" me PMing back "The what?"
yea, i forget my first guys name, but he was a cleric, knew joe scarlet, and introduced Airinal to the forgotten realms. oh, i think he was bi polar before i figured out that playing that wouldn't get me anywhere :P

I just picked up the wrong alignment for my deity –> remake.
After first three days, died, whitelighted and created a cousin to my character, with different stats, though. The character went EMO and ended up being lvl 12 cleric with spellfailure. 'nuff said... (Also tried to join the church with just IC application, made dm tells trying to get them to possess npc's and was in the flower picking crew, tried to organize a crusade vs the banite temple). Did tons of quests (I blame my cousin).I ran everywhere. Especially into battle. Then again, I never had even made a character to the solo before joining arabel. I bought the game, installed, updated and entered CoA. So all the mechanical faults in my first characters were purely my lack of skill.
Drew spawns to transfer so I could kill them one at the time.
I still remember thinking 4th level characters were überpowerful. Thought I was perfectly safe running a caravan with 4 lvl 2-4 characters. Well, the gnomes made it to Bospir, but the caravan crew died to a gypsy spawn near east way.
I think I accidentally did few item transfers, when I did not know they were bannable offenses. Got handed a breastplate of my previous character (thinking that was a superb armor, I accepted) and ran into the corpse of my previous character, I full looted it, of course (this was over 2 hours after I had died).
No funny n00b stories, had RP'd for ages before coming to CoA.

I had some seriously nooby times way back in v2 for the short time that I played. I remember getting attacked by green guys similar to Eliphas' story so I will assume it was him (Damn you!)
I can't remember much of way back then but I remember it took me 3 weeks to hit lvl 2… I don't know how.. it just did and the second I did I ran naked in the market screaming "WOOT! LVL 2" and ran somewhere a bit off and attacked an npc- got slammed by a paralyzing arrow- and utterly owned by a guard.
What really inspired me to play Arabel was more of a 30 second dm interaction(Thank you whoever it was on which otherwise I might not be in this awesomeness *sniffle)... I went into Bhaliir's estate... tried to break the door... all of a sudden the guard spammed their useless "What was that!?- or whatever exactly it was" and got possessed asked me what I was doing to the door beat the crap outta me after I said I was just taking a walk..-
Welp these stories prove that plenty of good rp'ers aren't born but just made from utterly crappy noobs ^^-which need time to develop from their noobdom >_>

First character was a cleric, Leath, (of course what else to check out a new server) I feel certain I didn't have the domains and diety correct. Levelled fast and quickly became friends with a players whose characters name was XxXChaosFistXxX or some sort. Quickly got ostrasized more or less, and rightfully so for being a powergamer.
Next character was a another cleric, Aaria, with Tempus as a diety but wrong domains again. Joined up with a battleguard group and held an impromput fight with a character of "games" who realized my error and politely OOC told me my mistake. Never so embarassed, but decided not to remake.
Next came a min/maxed halfling rogue/cleric of Brandobaris, Roim, hey at least he had the domains right this time. Ran around with Jimmy the Sling ("FoolishOwl" if I recall), learned much and FINALLY decided to take the time to research and map out my future characters prior to just starting with a class selection and playing as it goes. Then RL set in, and I left for some time.

My first character was a half-elf mage. This was before you were able to re-sell things back at the starting gear NPC for exactly the same price as you had bought them for, so I burned about half my starting gold just trying on different clothes. Finally she got a quarterstaff, some robes, and a couple crossbow bolts, but couldn't afford a crossbow.
So I headed into the Visitor's Center and found Nada. Accepting her quest all by my lonesome as a level 1 mage with 6 HP, I proceeded into her house, walked into a beetle, and died.
After wandering around the fugue for several minutes, I got a tell from someone I'd never seen or talked to, asking if I was going to finish the quest. I was very awkward and confused and explained that I was dead. She told me that she had a group ready to go on that quest, and if I'd respawn and abandon the quest, they'd pick up my stuff for me when they did the quest.
I respawned and tried my very best not to be seen heading naked back towards the Visitor's Center, abandoned the quest, and managed to beg some rags off of someone. Then we had an odd sort of meeting in the Visitor's Center, them explaining that they'd found a staff and some robes and gold (it wasn't much by that point) and gave them back to me. I wandered around a bit, but I was too embarrassed and scared to talk to anyone else, and after a few minutes I just logged out.
My next character… was a fighter who used a bow, I think. I realized that we were supposed to quest in GROUPS at that point, but I was too afraid to talk to anybody, so I spent a couple hours walking around the city silently. This was around when I realized that a lot of these people were NPCs, not PCs, and you could actually tell them apart by whether you had the little 'talk to' icon on them or not.
So then I spent ages sitting in the Visitor's Center, waiting for someone to come in, both hoping and being afraid that they might talk to me. When someone finally did (after another hour or so), I got too embarrassed and logged out.

hmm i acctually managed to pick up the whole role playing thing pretty fast at least after i got yelled at by a paladin for talking ooc stuff in the party chat.
I was less fortunate at deciding to play an evil wizard. For a while was strapped for what evil stuff i could do so i decided to cast daze on a beggar who asked for a coin sounds like a perfectly evil thing to do well that resulted in a short chase and then death at the hands of the kest brothers.
Then later on i played a swashbuckling pirate who was really over the top heck learning to talk like a pirate was a heck of a lot of work. Playing that charecter properly was way out of my league that was kinda the point when i was wanting to be showy and flashy and get all the attention. For the heck of it one day attacked a raven on the rode. This caused a grizzled war vetran to send me to the fugue.

I remember I'd run around and attack random PCs.
Then- when I made Sinsane (V1)… I wanted to explore the server since I realised that it was an RP server.
I seen "Kill Myself" option in the crafting system. So I clicked it...
At the time, I used the numpad to navigate through conversations, so Sinsane, at level four... killed himself in the market. :\

While I had played vast amounts of PnP, I had no real experience with 3e DnD or FR. (nor NWN) so my first character, thinking of it as a "holy knight" kind of person, I made a Paladin… and maxed out Parry, thinking, hey, sure. sounds good. And after that first day, didnt play for 2 weeks.
So 2 weeks, later I had forgetten what god (if any) I had put in... but i thought it was something to do with magic or something, and here was that shrine here to Selune and it sounds sorta magicy, so.. um, sure, I guess that was it.. so I played it as that. Spent a bunch of time with someone else with a similar character, and came up with a shared background - if i recall, the other persons Deity was simply blank though.
(of course, THAT got changed often enough for those of you who recognize & remember)So there were two paladins of Selune, and of course Selune doesnt have paladins. Oh, it wasn't until like 5th level that I realized Parry, full plate and shield were, shall we say, "less than ideal".
and that was Krystyn, my main char for v2.

A few dumb things I did before I understood the server where
-
make a psycho dwarven monk who attacked people in the market, it was literally the first time I logged on and really didn't get the rules
-
Made a elven rogue/fighter who got into some cool thief organisation, didnt realise how cool it was to be part of a player faction which had some excellent characters in it and created another 20 or characters before realising the elven rogue/fighter was in a cool position 20 characters ago
-
Made a charisma 8 chauntean cleric, this was utter noobness a cleric should have at the very absolute least a neutral charisma score and preferably a positive one with some ranks in persuade to convert people to his god, as clerics do
-
probably another dozen or so dumb things before I started reading the forums and people started helping me out with polite tells
-
-
My first character was the son of Bhaal.
My second character was Aribeth de Tylmarande, Paladin or Tyr.
My third character never broke any rules but one, when he threw 2000 gp on the ground for his 'friend', the level 1 Fighter I had just made who wanted a copper Fullplate.
Then my Cleric of Mask who didn't know what Clericism was, and was just like a Warrior with Fullplate, Bull's Strength and Invisibility. He was in the Thayan Enclave, and when a Magus Combusted someone for the lol of the audience, the person got up and attacked the Magus and I killed the poor soul before anyone could respond. That earned me a good death and they animated my body to further entertain them.
I mean, wow. Has it been a week already? -
My first two characters were both dwarves who were
A. oddly colored (blue skin and the green skinned)
B. Ran everywhere (If I walk I'll waste time)
C. Needed an application to the extreme (the green one was slowly turning into a plant thanks to an elf)Reading through the all the posts I've realised my current character has and probably has done all the things said. He's like a n00b but believable
Oh… also remember I tried to attack a DM's avatar (think it was DivisionbyZero) because he had an intellect devourer as his avatar and though, "Wow, I can net some good xp from killing ths thing"
-
My very first night in Arabel, I was attacked in the street by some noob. It had to have been. He didn't give me any reasons for it just started attacking me. I believe it was in the area near the Bat lady's house.
I knew nothing of subdual or sparring. So I killed him with my entry level equips and left his corpse there >_>
Good times :)
-
My first character was a Vampire mage called Belladonna, she's still sitting in the palace dungieon trying to get to that whitelight to be removed from my vault.
-
I had a character,
Chase Garagos, prepares for the noob of the year award he was I think my third character, and I had been playing for like a week. I had heard all about Tobin Sett, and I was in the morgue for some reason and you'll never guess who's corpse I see…
It was Tobin Sett!
So I grabbed him from the floor and left, extremely encumbered and likely with a corpse over my shoulder, but I somehow mannaged to get him in my tiny back-pack so no one could see him. -.-
Then after trying to kill someone in their sleep in the Tired Traveler a guard searched me, and to his surprise, guess who's head was sticking out of my back-pack?
After being in jail for a few minutes a DM explained that his corpse wasn't really there and that none of that happened.
I WAS SUCH A NEWB!
and I hate myself for it.
I've got a TON of noob stories like this one that results from wanting to be an evil character and having no idea how the server works.

Idiotic things I'll do with my next character on CoA
-
Invent a half-orc gourmet chef and try to get hired on with a noble house
-
Invent a war wizard that wears a stolen Ollie Baba helm and Lilyis' undergarments.
I dunno >_> Just spouting off randomly :D
-
-
My very first character was a LE monk of Levistus, Lord of the Fourth layer of hell (I think).
Anyway, he would get people to sign a contract and give away their souls, which was pretty cool, though definately would have required an application…
The main problem was, I could somehow pull objects I didn't have outa thin air to tempt people...
It was my first week of playing a role-playing server, and I had just finnished memorizing the Tyrants of the Nine Hells book, so obviously I was going to steal people's souls, and I had no idea how to Role-Play, so a combination of the two equals ultra-noob.
Expect many more of my noob moments, I did some idiotic things that make me cry when I look back.

Fed the gurb.

Thought it was funny to pull the bell chain for guards or retainers and then run. A few times later a DM possessed guard showed me the error of my ways
