Qo'i - Redemption and Re-Education

As I understand Qo'i is accused of assaulting Dominic, members of the House of the Morning, and others during a fight against Volmar. He is held in the Crown Guards jail.
Qo'i attempted to send a letter to the Precept whilst in jail, asking them to reveal him as an undercover Bloodhound. Dominic approached myself to discuss this matter, and I suggested he could go to Kira regarding it. He managed to speak with Kira and the Precept's founder, Hector, who denied Qo'i being a member of the Precept.

I was witness as was Maire, he is no Bloodhound, just a rat.
When the battle seemed dire against Volmar, with only Dominic, Maire and Quo standing against him Quo decided to hedge his bets and turned on us in the heat of battle. Unfortunately for him he bet poorly and Dominic and Maire struck him down.
@fizzgig said in The Crown Guards:
Qo'i is to be transferred to the House of the Morning for re-educational purposes, he shall aid us against the vampire coven in the Haunted Halls. This is his chance for redemption, as judged by Lathander, and it is not up to him to either embrace the light or face the wrath of the sun.

How are we going to keep hold of him, practically speaking? We do not have anyone capable of seeing him when he doesn't want to be seen, that I know of.

Friends
Qo'i is likely going to claim he has been victimised, I enclose the statements on the Volmar situation to prove he has not
In the battle Treth was animated, I did not see who did this myself but as supposedly it was throwing spells at Volmar as well as hitting us, Alparin suspected it may have been Qo'i
@zolm said in Letter to Dominic:
During the heat of battle with Volmar a zombie threth was raised as undead fighting on our side. I believe Quo to be responsible for this heresy.
-AlparinMaires statement matches how I saw the situation
@paramour said in Crown Guard Records, c/o Dominic:
I write this to affirm the following:
- That I did accompany Dominic upon his quest to slay Volmer, demonic servant of Change.
- During this fight, amongst other things, I witnessed the person known as Q'oi initially join the fighting. I lost track of him, and the next time that I noticed him he was standing off to the side, without engaging either side.
- When I was the last soldiers standing healing Dominic, I did call out to Q'oi to join us and asked why he had not. I also heard Volmer call out to him, saying to come and join him instead.
- When Q'oi did join the fight, he joined on the side of Volmer, attacking Dominic directly and ignoring me. I struck him in the knee with my flail, knocking him down long enough for Dominic to deliver a debilitating blow upon him before returning to the fight with Volmer.
- I can not speak to whether or not he animated the corpse of Treth, the infernalist, as I did not personally witness this happen and it was outside my field of vision at the time.
- At the time that Qo'i joined the fighting, it did appear as though we were or would be losing badly.
This comprises what I have been asked to give witness testimony upon, though I may be contacted for further inquiry at the House of the Morning in Eveningstar.

hand delivered to the Arcanum
Master,
I languish in the cells of the Crown Guard currently. Having been assaulted in the field by the Guard Dominic whilst attempting to aid in bringing down the abysal Volmar. The fog of war seems to have claimed him such that when i acted to try to aid he ran at me and forced me to defend myself which i failed to do obviously.
I believe that it time that i reveal myself as one of your Bloodhounds and that you claim me publically that the city may know that the job of policing the Blooded is fulfilled. Treth was finally silenced by my hand in the end when his actions crossed the line that could not be ignored for the greater good, the Bloodhound's duty fulfilled.
As you know i was also instrumental in the capture and subsequent execution of the Lycan Sirona, though the Crown guard seem to have ommited that from any reports they have published on the matter.
I will brief you in full on the happenings in the eastern reaches when i am free to come to you.
I have always respected the freedom you have allowed me in my role, and hoppe that you will not discard me to the Crown Guard now, for with the oath taken we stand by one another as family do we not.
Qo'i
He will also claim I attacked him after he "Assisted" bring down Siona, What happened was whilst I was engaged in battle with a dangerous lycan, Qo'i had gone into hiding as he usually does, and simply watched before deciding to throw a fireball into combat that struck both myself and Siona, After Siona was brought low I went to subdue Qo'i to question him on his actions.

Dominic has informed me Conrad of the Ravens, offered him ten thousand gold and a proclamation of Dominic being a hero of Tilverton, if he handed Qo'i over to him. An attempted, but failed bribe. Conrad is currently throwing some rather colorful and offensive words around, angered by Qo'i being in our care, rather than on the Tilverton execution block.
Perhaps Qo'i know something Conrad wish to stay between them? Either way, please keep Qo'i away from Conrad and the Ravens. Clearly they wish him dead.

Dominic,
I have learned that qoi betrayed your group and aided Volmar. Volmar was considered a threat to Tilverton in particular due to his attack on the town, and I wish to request that qoi be handed over to face the Dukes judgement as a co conspirator.
There will be a bounty of ten thousand gold coins and you will be congratulated through bulletins as a protector of the realm.

Juli, could you give everyone an update on the scene that played out earlier. It will help us all explain how we can best guide and aid you, as you find strength and confidence in your own ideas.

Very well. I had just awoke and had ran into him in the streets of Eveningstar. I had looked over things yet and did not know he was sent for us to be redeem. As I do not trust the man I told him I was going to do some investigate the around the area. He proceeded to follow and off to help. It was about ten minutes of him complaining about he can not help me investigate that I told him bluntly I would tell him what is was if I trusted him. We parted ways for a bit. Then when I was back in the city I was coved in darkness and attacked by curst nearly dying had it not been for a near by squire. Mere moments after there battle was over he comes stroll up behind us. I once again showed my distrust for him and pretty much accused him of it. I then spoke to Tass about this and in the end I had agreed to take charge in redeeming him.
Juli -
The first step on the path of redemption is an acceptance that one has erred.
I would expect that an admission of guilt would come first in a sincere effort to be redeemed.
Qo'i's actions were the actions of a coward, an opportunist, a liar, and those vices placed not just us, but by extension the realm and entire country in danger, for had he succeeded many of the strongest forces of good presently in Arabel would have been snuffed by a wicked demon creature.
Therefore I would suggest he be sat down and asked to at least produce some sort of palpable apology spoken or in writing to the individuals involved.

[a late 'P.S.' is added]
If he cannot at least accomplish that in a reasonable time period, paired with his apparent attack on you, I believe we should swiftly execute him before he becomes a danger to all of us.
My writing may read harsh, but I do not wish to see any of the House of the Morning fall in trying to win an unwinnable battle. It is noble to offer redemption, but as all things become clearer in the Morning's light, we also need to approach this with a clear vision and our eyes wide open. If he doesn't want redemption, we can't force it upon him involuntarily.

Qo'i has had a chance, and it is for him to choose to take it. If he doesn't, then the light will snuff out the darkness as dawn does every day. Not every battle can be won, but we can strive towards doing better ourselves and not falter when doubt lingers in the heart. I entrust Julianna to make just and fair judgement in the handling of Qo'i, with our support I am certain she shall walk in the light no matter the outcome.
Simple tasks we can request of Qo'i:
- Maps of the halls
- Regular garlic collection
- Making oak stakes
- Regular expeditions to the Haunted Halls, proven by sending and frequent reports to Julianna

Sir Myrkyr, Dawnherald Tass, and Dawnsquire Juli:
This afternoon as I was out, I thought it might be a good idea to speak with Qo'i, as I have not yet had the opportunity to speak with him outside of the battle that put him here. I wished to see how his redemption was going and perhaps get a feel for his motives in attacking Dominic and I at the request of Voler, the changeling demon.
I summoned him to Hillmarch, and he came - but so did others.
Qo'i had used my summons as an excuse to withdraw from a group before the spoils were split, and as I was standing there watching them lay out what they had all found, he complained he was being persecuted and left without permission.
I never did get a chance to speak with him because even as I was hoping to, he was accused of stealing a certain amount of money by Dominic of the Crown Guard. The general opinion of his companions at that time was that he had been purposefully obtuse the entire way, potentially letting one of them get killed and allowing the bandits to escape. I called him up just to talk with him and found him actively embroiled in lying, cheating, and apparent cowardice.
I pity him; I can see that his evil is coming from a place of what I am assuming is betrayal and pain, and I can imagine that this is what Tass saw when she found him in the Crown Guard jail - but at the moment we are just an excuse for him to run around relatively free and continue as he was before he committed this crime. Even more concerning to me, all present agreed that he had continued his habit of waiting in the wings of battles for the singular purpose of finding some opportunity to kill the people he doesn't like, should the battle go ill for them - the very crime he was initially going to be executed for. He hates Dominic, strongly dislikes Adalaide, and actively wishes them dead.
It is my present belief at this time, given the evidence and his behavior which borders on open hostility, that Qo'i is unrepentant and unwilling to redeem for a crime he does not admit he committed.
I, therefore, officially request that we call an end to his redemption and return him to the Crown Guard again to face his original charges before he is given a chance or opportunity to do other good people or us serious harm.
I am not happy to be writing this, but I feel it would be irresponsible of me not to relate this story and make my opinion known. Evil can hide as much in inaction as it can in violence, and if we fail to see this as it is, we are going to be done harm by it eventually.

Dawnsquire,
It has become evident this man does not feel remorse, nor does he see the error of his ways. He shuns the light, and is eager to sow chaos. As such, I have referred him to the Bishop for final judgment. He was given a chance, and now he has chosen not to take it.

The Bishop made him donate 5000 gold to the offering bowl and let him go.
