Player Owned Property (Reminder)
-
While players are coming to have more authority over the city, its clearly becoming tempting for them to look at how to improve the city or to supply allied groups and factions with property.
We as DMs still view owning property or a faction headquarters as one of the biggest perks the players can get. As such, our requirements to own property (or to give it to allies simply because you control a region of the city) have not changed.
You must have a player faction group which is actively engaging a wide range of players in ADVENTURE and INTRIGUE. Your faction can claim empty homes or territory by inhabiting it and making it clear they claim it (but expect to come into conflict with the owners even if you think it is unowned-often someone actually owns the property somewhere).
You must still send an application for the location as well.
Likely, that application must state you have some support from the authorities in control of the land. Even with this, you may be required to purchase or rent that land from its legal owner.
Do not think that you can rest on your laurels even if you come to own the land. The DMs will reserve the option of removing your property if your faction declines in membership, activity, and fails to continue to provide ADVENTURE and INTRIGUE.

But what's the best way to get player owned property you ask?
1). Have a group of at least five active players.
2). Accomplish some noticeable goals.
3). Once a DM has given you a nod, you could start pursuing property in game without wasting your time.
4). While doing that, send in an application for your group. Again, its helpful to ensure at least one DM tends to think your group's earned this major perk.
5). If the application is accepted, things will start to move in game toward helping you get the property based on whatever strategy you're pursuing to get it.
6). If the application is denied, you should speak with a DM (as with any application) to find out what needs to happen to make approval more likely.
