choosing a character, building a team

What is/are the best classes to play for support characters to help the rest of your party in city of arabel and neverwinter nights for you?
What are the most FUN to play for you?
-
Right now, clerics are probably most useful. I like rogues, but you need a high pop to make them properly OP.

Anyone else have anything to share?

This is the big question.
I grew up on Dragonlance novels, so I’m in love with the concept of Fighter and Mage duo. I think it’s classic and I think it breeds some pretty easy and fun role play. Personally, I love the Fighter class most of all.
If you’re talking mechanics, we’ll be here all day discussing the possibilities, so we need alittle bit more to be concise and accurate. What party size are you looking for?
I have more to say on this but I’m at work. I’ll edit this later w/ more.

A cleric with plant domain, or haste/invis is just invaluable. At lvl 12 you're giving your team +4 shields and bark, +3 armor and shield and greater magic weapon +3.
Pure support wise, i don't think you can top that. The shield and bark duration and dispel difficulty of both makes it insanely strong.

Clerics are really powerful but can be difficult to play, i very rarely do so. There are few things more off-putting than a cleric of some obscure God/Goddess that is just a buff bot, so i'd advise avoiding cleric unless you want to pursue some plot related to that God/Goddess.
I'd say the best support class that's not too difficult to play well is a Bard. You have many buffs you can take as spells, and you have your song, which can be quite powerful if you invest in it by taking extra music and lingering song feats. You are also able to multiclass quite well, take 4 levels of fighter, specialise in a fairly common weapon, and you will be able to hold your own if your group is in a tough situation.

Biggest issue with bard song is wasting it if another bard is in the party.
Curse song, however, is almost always useful. If bards had spells like Bane, they could function very well as offensive debuffers.

I find druids fun to play but hard. I also love tribal orc concepts because i like the orc pantheon. My next concept will likely be orc if DMs can keep their activity up in 2019.
I also think Arabel implementation of animal companions and necromancy is the best i have seen in any game.
I would say sorc kits need sorted out as well as some extras for fighter pure class and barbs in general.

For the majority of my time playing CoA I have done melee oriented characters. Mainly because fighters and Paladins have less of a learning curve in my experience. I have dabbled with mages a couple of times but its harder to get into the fight without specifically building one that can handle close quarters.
