OOC tells" You are playing your character wrong.

Alrighty, I am about to rant, and the rant is probably gonna tick some people off and, wel,l everyone will get over it.
I am playing a druid. If you think I am playing a druid wrong, convince me in game.
If I am playing an Elf, Don't tel me I'm not Elfy enough OOC'ly, instead, lead me to correct action through RP. If I am playing a priest of Bane, don't tell me that I am playing him too cowardly. My Character choices are my character choices. You don't know the why, you don't know background of my characters. You dont have a clue what is motivating my character to do what he or she does at any given time. If I have a druid who thinks its ok to suck up to someone who beat him down not a week ago to get mythalite, Then its ok unless you convince me IG that I am behaving in a counter druidly way. Maybe I'm so freaking scared of the guy that now I just want him to think Im on his side. Maybe I'm a coward who is waiting till someone else beats him down to join in on the party. Maybe Im waiting for some monster to eat him so I can follow the monster and collect the droppings to make a ceramic monster shit statue of the person that I can then crush under my boot. Point is, you don't know What I'm doing or why i'm doing it.
OOC tells are dangerous, and can get people killed. I know, I'm a victim of fuged by tells. I am still new to the mechanics of this game,( I get fuged by camera angles so many times I think it should be a new monster class.) I get separated from my party , I am answering a tell and WHAM two vile bats spawn on top of me, I'm doomed. i'm fuged, and i'm pissed.
So, if you think I'm playing my druid wrong, change me IG, find out why im doing what i'm doing. Don't distract me to the point I get separated from my party and then get killed.
Thank you.

There's a way to not receive tells by typing your account name a certain way, in which the tell sender would have to type it out in its entirety to send you a tell. . Wish I could remember how that worked.

:D It's not tells I am upset with, it is the content of these, and the results. (fugued)
Fugued is my problem. Ill get over it.

Doesn't really work as you can still use the player list to pre-type the character name, or simple click the player's portrait in the chat window to send a tell.

camera angles and convo during combat gets me sometimes, too… i get separated from the party, sometimes, too. using a mouse instead of mouse pad helps a lot tho...
usually to discuss certain things, i try to wait for a safe space, or have some kind of 'rp time', where we can like have our characters sit or stand somewhere and rp... it's great that other people can rp and do combat or other things at the same time too, tho.
some keys that can be a problem, or can help, are like the 'h' key, which will make your other stuff disappear off your screen, so you can see more... but if you forget to hit enter or click the chat input and start typing and hit h... things start disappearing, etc... my machine is a bit too to respond with graphics changes sometimes...
anyways, hope you feel better soon.
maybe people will have some good suggestions as to how to balance things and stuff... -
Dedagin, please PM (with screenshots or logs if you have them) me who's doing this, and I'll deal with it. It's not the place of any player to tell other players how to roleplay (unless it's really extreme, like for a new player who doesn't know the rules, etc.), and if this happens again, said players can go play elsewhere.

Just choose not to answer or say "sry, not now". Most ppl will understand you're busy and it may be for the greater good since tells do break immersion. You just have more reason not to do tells, simply ^^

If someone is sending you OOC tells that you're playing wrong, you logoff and log back on with your chaotic evil 9th level barbarian alt character and murder them and trashcan all their gear. Seriously, sending a tell, "You're playing X all wrong" should be a ban-able offense. Is there a post somewhere on how to run off new players that people are reading?
If there is someone who is doing something immersion breaking, like playing their elf like he's one of the Keebler elves and just bakes cookies or is claiming to be one of Santa's elves, then report it to a DM and avoid them. If you think someone interpreted the paladin oath a bit off or a druid isn't feeding their pet wolf organic pet food then deal with it IC.
((Around the start of v4 I was helping out a new player via tells on some of the basics. They were playing an elf who was pal-ing around with some evil characters and talking in a bunch of thievy sounding slang. I didn't think all that much about it- it was fine. I got a tell from the player later asking if playerX was a DM. I sent a tell back that no- why do you ask? They said a veteran player sent them a tell that they sucked-an elf wouldn't be evil and shouldn't act that way. He explained he had a bunch a points in bluff, a backstory that wasn't total crap and why he was doing what he was doing. I didn't get the impression he wasn't ruining the server and said sorry. About an hour after that they sent a tell that the person had sent more tells and that they were quitting. I quit playing here for a long while because of this and some of the crap attitude. If you haven't been made a DM then your job is to either RP along with people or avoid them, not make them feel bad as a player.))
