What do you do for fun on the server
-
What I find fun is to make a social character who meets every single person he hasn't met before, tells them about his cause, asks for their help and offers his help. You'll quickly find out about all the schemes going on and frequent requests for joining adventure X or beating up character Y.
That or Urdlen.

I enjoy talking to PCs and DM NPCs alike. More than adventuring - which is odd, given the server's heavy focus on it - I have the most fun simply listening to other people's stories.

I enjoy characters with at least some social skills, so I can interact without major issues.
When I log in nowadays, I usualy:
- check for players that can help me, and try pushing plots (though I'm not good at it);
2)if someone else make a sending to push some plot (like going to hunt something, or adventure in some place) I tend to join them (sometimes even having a bit of OOC considerations, for the sake of fun), unless its something my character would never do, or if its a character who don't get along with mine (and even this point I get over, sometimes, for the sake of fun);
3)If another character wants to talk to mine, I usualy take my time, sometimes even delaying my plans hear them;
4)The last thing on my "to do list" is doing scripting quests, where I also tend to include the most players (again, even accepting people I should probably cast out of the group), and I try to RP things and adding fun to it.
Ever since I've been doing this instead of rushing "quest, quest, quest" like I used to do, my experience in CoA improved a lot, and now I realize the importance of providing fun to others too, because no one will care for a character who never helps in plots, never talks, and only joins you for grinding XP and gold.
What I find frustrating now, is when I try to do something different, like taking new characters to places they've never been before, pushing plots or doing some random adventure, and people don't join it because they want to grind XP and gold, or they join, but then 5 minutes later starts talking "lets go back to Arabel", "we should come back", "bla bla bla". I think the best way to avoid this is making contacts IG, and trying to keep at least a few PCs together in a group, so you always have people to do different things, and the best ways to achieve this is: playing only one, maybe two characters, (instead of making a new one every week), joining a faction, or making a group concept with other players.

I think something which is crucial to have fun is creating a character you find fun to play before you even start the game. Most ppl imo create a character which is "perfect or ideal". Those characters usually tend to be forgotten and your rp seems bleak, since nothing exciting happens because they're perfect.
But a char with flaws and something unique, (eveyone has something unique be it small or big) will be remembered and your char won't just be built up the way you see him but also how others see you.
RP becomes much more than mindless talk. Other than that I agree on the fact that interacting with ppl you don't know ooc, refrain from talking too much ooc and creating task to each other, (no matter lvl) rly helps to improve the "inside the game" feeling since the game becomes more spontaneous and unpredictable. Suddenly your char isn't just known by you but also others, and when you're known by others you have options you can choose by working with those who know you.Tips: contact dms + old players or forum if you need help to make a fun char and don't just do the same quests with the same people whole the time if you aren't deeply affected ic.
One of my hobbits is to scout the world of coa and I rly love doing that and involving new players ^_^ -

I find making a character that wants to meet new characters means you get more fun and interaction.
To often i see someone making the brooding loner then complaining that they are bored or have nothing to do,if you make your character rude and surly your probably not going to make to many friends with them,where as if your character tends to sulk when things go wrong instead of constantly sulking they become more interesting and have depth.
So i enjoy interacting with interesting characters,role playing through quests and the more fun i can have without needing a DM the better they tend to kill my characters off when they meet:) -
I enjoy myself by supping on the tears of newbs and the blood of my rivals.
