If you had a personal DM..
-
..who was willing to let you do anything you wanted IG, what would you have them do?
-
I would take their dm avatar for a spin, spicing quests and possessing npcs to talk to players about absolutely nothing. It would be an episode of Seinfeld - CoA style.
-
Blow up the palace, overthrow the newly forming council and teabag Lord DeSchurr.
Uh. Actually. The first two will do. :)
-
Burn every freak, kill suspected necromancer and infernalist without due process or trial. Pike their heads along the entrance to Arabel saying, "Behold the fate of blasphemers!"
-
Be taken for an OOC tour to all the areas I never got to witness personally… The old EO areas, the secret hideouts of former enemies, the wonders and secrets of the server...
-
People have totally missed the point!
I mean IC stuff - if you could have a DM who would let you do something IC, with your PC
-
No. Seriously. I'd like a Guy Fawkes-esque Plot of some sort. Especially if the Mage's Guild took power.

I would have him create a series of quests to walk in Clar Bandas footsteps, and undo her becoming a deity, ending in an epic battle over Arabel.
Or an almost campaign ish quest series, to find Darmos, and figure out what really happened to him.
-
I would follow a questline to become a more real-life like version of a Knight. A warrior with a title and sometimes lands in service of a noble lord, and then utilize said Knighthood to not only follow the wills and orders of my Leige-lord but to throw weight behind quests of goodly adventurers to further my own Nobanionite plots as well as bring some of the local misfit PC-factions into a higher standing such as the elves and the Golden Wyvern or some of the newer good-based factions that have really epic stories going. Sure I have my own plots I want to push but a good bit of my own plots work very very well with these other factions and if there is something my path can do to aid them, I'd like to see them all get all the help they can for their awesomeness!
-
I'd be allowed to take a move to shake the entire server, raising hell, then making sure everyone would have a reason and an angle to get in on it to help it along or stop it!
-
I would try to finish my plot.
I would gather the other players and characters who I know enjoy the same play style I do and would pursue the end of the plot as a story with some PvM combat instead of epic hack and slash/fight the entire server who for some reason is connected to the plot now.
Epic cooperation over epic conflict.
In a non selfish tone, I would work with him to move the plots of other players that I know of, aiding where I could and maybe even asking to play a few one off NPCs to help tell their stories.
-
Like Latoskinned said, playing a "proper" noble lord would be fun, to then engage in power-plays with others in the city, to have that managerial aspect of trying to make your house the most powerful while avoiding government forces like war wizards, purple dragons and being forced to send your trained warriors off to die in another foolish war.
There's a lot of depth to be had in something like that though, and it's probably too much for one DM alone!
This is why we have DM teams.

This!
Oh wait..IC? Uhh…this is now making me realize I need some actual character goals.
Let's see... without giving it too much thought, and having to flesh it out later, it would probably something tied into Nadia's mother, whose horrific and traumatic death left deep subconscious scarring and her "unique" mental condition. Despite whatever happened, Nadia herself has no surface-level memory beyond "my mom died when I was young".
With her father's deep distrust in people in general, and adventurers specifically, I suppose the death would have been somehow linked to that - perhaps after retirement, an enemy thought long dead tracked her down and murdered her? Maybe a terrible wasting curse that no convential magic could cure had affixed itself during one of her career's deep ruin investigations? Perhaps she fell to corruption by forces of evil?
The pieces would come together slowly enough to give Nadia a chance to come to terms with things - elated at first to find out more about her mother, it soon becomes a spiralling series of events when the legacy left over from what transpired in the past becomes hers. If it was a foe, perhaps either bloodline or some sort of memento is of great importance to them, bringing Nadia to their attention. If the curse, perhaps it was unknowingly trasnferred and laying dormant until now. If corruption, perhaps a similar path of crucial moral decisions and consequences await.
In any case, it would ideally be something personal, yet accessible in impact to the other people - it's more fun that way anyway, and I wouldn't want to hoard my personal DM.
There we go - wasn't certain I could spin anything off the top of my head, but something came out, even if it had more questions than answers!

I am trying to do this, but has gained little progress…

Work on creating an IC group with the intent of pursuing IG game goals and more importantly have a real diplomatic impact on the various factions on the server. Form my experience, you can do a heck of a lot on your own. However, you really need DM help when you want to start having long term impact on the politics of how the various factions interact. If nothing else because causing permanent change (if you earned it IG) often requires a high ranking DM controlled NPC to bless it (and rightly so). If this worked out I would then utilize the DM attention and gained political power / changes to attempt even larger server wide political changes.

Fallout Arabel
1.) Roll a CoGer
2.) Build a fantasyish "Atomic bomb" and a vault.
3.) shove people into the vault and set off the Atomic bomb
4.) start V5
-
I would want to tell a very, very small and very, very personal tale about my character and three or four of my character's closest companions. It would focus less on earthshaking political intrigue and more on small, personal triumphs.
-
I would have them run an epic undead auction and/or fashion show plot to include all on the server interested in watching or interrupting, creating a great event to RP over, all through Woodman, Hard Woodman.
That, or I'd have them run a public story line to help progress the control of power for the DM factions, creating conflict for all involved and more to carry on RPing with
-
Bring back noble rule to Arabel. Oh and start v5
-
I would use them to throw the plot seeking crowd curveball after curveball, and allow them to use me to ensure that the plots never lost steam due to ooc stuff. Basically what I have always tried to do, though having a personal dm would make it sooooo much easier.
