Might as well put this up here, who knows if there's any other "Amber"s that want to set up their own channel on IRC.
P.
ā05:40 < Corwin_ofAmber> so, who can tell me how to register a channel so that it's semipermanent?
first, make sure your 'nick' is registered with "NickServ"
/msg NickServ help 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- DarkMyst Nickname Services General Help 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- General Information 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- NickServ allows users to register and reserve their nickname 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- for their sole usage if desired. The nickname server will 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- guarantee users rights to the nickname, and if set, ensures 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- that the nickname is kept free from any unauthorised use. 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- NickServ Commands 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- ACCESS DROP IDENTIFY INFO KILL REGISTER 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- SET 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- If a registered nickname is not used for 30 days, the 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- registration will expire and the nickname will be available 13:42 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- for anyone to use. /msg NickServ help register 13:44 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- DarkMyst Nickname Services Help: REGISTER 13:44 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- 13:44 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- Command Information 13:44 -NickServ(services@darkmyst.org)- This command gives you the ability to register your nickname. so, "/msg NickServ register p4ssw0rd foo@bar.com"
then you'll probably have to "/msg NickServ identify p4ssw0rd"
Next, create your channel, by joining it:
"/join #RogerZelazny"
now register it with "ChanServ"

so: "/msg ChanServ register #RogerZelazny J0s3ph My channel description goes here"
now you probably want to set it up so some people get operator rights automatically, see the help for "ACCESS" for that stuff, or let me know if you can't figure it out.

To add a user to your channel, you may also delegate a user level. For further information regarding access levels, simply type /msg ChanServ help levels If a user level is not specified, a default level of 100 access is issued.Command Syntax
