Letter directly to Dame Drakesbane
-
Dame Drakesbane,
I have had two concerns brought to my attention, and I would check with yourself before casting my final decision. I have had a recent meeting with the Commander, and he has raised doubts in my mind. I do not raise these considerations in public as it is not my intention to offend you, nor it is my intention to publicly accuse the Commander of deliberately misleading a councilman in order to influence his vote, before marshalling all of the facts.
Firstly, I wish assurance that the payment to the archmage does not in any way effect the payment of the contract with the Obsidian Skulls.
And secondly, that the credentials of the archmage are certain, and they are capable of the task.
I had previously not even considered these reasonable questions, however I am required by protocol to seek these assurances.
Skull Domink Volkov

Councilor Volkov,
I won't lie and state that the risk isn't there- if an emergency of national scale takes place- we may find the need to renegotiate payment to the Obsidian Skulls. This risk, however, is always there- regardless if it's this plan, or some other measure we take in the future. This plan may enhance this risk, however, Arabel would ultimately honor its debts, the Obsidian Skull will be paid, but it may not be as swiftly as they would otherwise wish.
In lieu of this, certain things may be on the table for negotiation- titles, lands, and privileges that may otherwise be irredeemable to other mercenaries. We value your contributions and the information your owners have given to our armies to wage a successful campaign against your former Employer.
Secondly, as for the Archmage being a Charlatan...
Well, I wish he was, it'd make my life easier, because every time he pokes his nose into kingdom affairs, entire regions get turned into Mushroom forests, and other calamities occur.
Sincerely,
Dame Drakesbane
