Creatures of Fungus and Spores

I did be traveling through the Forest of Redwood, where I did find three beings, that did seem to be once human. I did think them to be undead at the time, shuffling as they did like many called zombie. But I am thinking now that they are beings of fungi and spores. They did spray spores at I, which caused in I a great sickness as I breathed. It is being good that I did learn to make bags of healing herbs, which I am thinking saved the life of I.
Travel warily in the lands, and carry with you herbs to cure illness. I can be making these for those of the Council Circle.

I am no expert in fungi, but perhaps side effects of the Lower Houses mushrooms? Izereth did wish them outlawed saying they have dangerous side effects.

I found similar sounding creatures in the Forest of Eyes.
I believe they may indeed be as Pierre says, but also, that those mushrooms may themselves be an experiment created by eye-kin.

It is well documented that there are plants capable of controlling corpses to aid in hunting down moving prey, and vegapygmies often use such plants to defend their homes.
How curious.
