Sir Nicholas' Last stand.
-
I have tried to write this report countless times since I returned to Eveningstar. I do not have the words to do it justice. But I owe Sir Nicholas an accounting.
After Dawn Prayers, Sir Nicholas summoned me to follow him. We gathered more people on the way, including the Commander. We made haste to get to the Redwoods Dolmen. Here, where Sir Nicholas the Great Druid and others Resisted the Black Tribe Orcs we were gathered to fight off the White Witch. We circled up around the Great Druid. She began a ritual to become one with the land she protected. With this link, she drove off the White witch. But she needed help. Instinctively, the Luckbringer came to her friends aid. Together they melded both with the land and with the Crownmaker Sword. Sir Nicholas could do naught but watch as his love joined with his life's work.
We were heart broken, each were touched by loss of people we loved. Some of us pained by both of their leaving. Sir Nicholas was able to hear his beloved. Either from beyond or from the sword. I believe it was at this time the sword made plain what Sir Nicholas must do. But neither the Sword or the good Sir shared this with us. We made haste for the Witch's tower.
While there, we fought off random humanoids under her spell. Finally we get to the tower, but the entrance is warded. Sir Nicholas uses the sword to strike the barrier, and is catapulted back 20 feet. He gets up, but we try another way. The mages of the group try to dispel the wards. Then those of divine power tried.
None had success. We see the ward being attacked by green magic. House Misrim mages are trying to help from afar. We have Osco of the Misrim try to break through. He tries but gets no where. Then we all hear elven music. He smiles as does Sir Nicholas. Then Osco says, "I hear you brother!" and joins in with the song. I have no other words for this than he became the song. He faded away as the last notes played. As did the ward.We rush in expecting a fight and we soon find one. We dispatch the mages that attack, but our way is blocked by a giant statue of a dragon. A vision shows Gondegal and others freeing Raubagaush. We recognize the story. Once seen, the statue fades away and enter another room. This continues, vision, then the statue fading. We see the Witches past and some of the sacrifices made by Kirin of the Crimson. We see the magical attack on King Matrim Kingsley's daughter. We see these terrible things, and some wish to see no more..... but we continued.
Finally we come to a dias similar to the one Lord Islyn was found on by Sir Nicholas' words. He steps onto the top layer and we can tell the White Witch is battling Laam Wilaml. I can feel that something is coming to blast Sir Nicholas. I try to ascend the steps to shield him. But he sends me down. He says this is not my time. He turns to the others and says "Protect each other. Protect Arabel". A flash of energy is racing to him. I tried to jump in it's path but was too slow. I was slightly burned, Sir Nicholas was gone, and the sword took in all the energy and shot up into the air. The tower shook, and began to crumble. We all made it out. Some crying, others too stunned. Dawn Knight Tiatus came to us. A sketch of some personal importance fell and was gathered by Laura Wildwalker. And Laam Wilaml descended into the Dawnknight's hands. From there, he would be the best to complete the report.

[Tiatus rests on the chair near his candelit desk, his room decorated with various twin bladed swords and newly shining armor resting in a corner. He reads the files and responds accordingly, his expression grim yet purposeful]
While my brothers continued their dangerous journey to end the White Witch, I fended off the white horde while fighting alongside Lord Obyn and Sir Thaddoth. I am suspicious of Lord Obyn but he has earned some respect in fighting by my side against the raging tides of white til it's end. After which, I regrouped with those who made it back. The sword descended from the sky above into my hand and asked us the question Sir Nicholas made us answer before becoming a knight. "What is the greatest sacrifice?" Because of this, I believe Sir Nicholas is apart of this blade. While I did mourn my brother and his beloved I knew there was still a task yet undone. I swore to him the blade would find rightful hands and so we journeyed back to Arabel. Pulled by the blade towards the palace it knew the path just as I did. With the audience of many nobles and adventurers alike the blade lifted free from my hands and placed itself in between now Queen Kestrel and King Matrim. They held it as one in union and the blade reacted favorably embodying the two in a golden flame. It was then I knew, the task was complete. Soon after I bent the knee and swore loyalty where all others followed. Not long after nobles began their formalities in search to gain. Obyn got the legal claim of his house and Tilverton he so desired. In the end we were victorious at a cost far too great. [The writing pauses, with some droppings of ink on the page] It is of great importance his legacy continues in each of us. Take with you his teachings both in words and action. Know his light is not gone from this world as we are the ones who now carry it. May his legacy never die for every dusk, there is a new dawn and here we stand.
