Chain of command

Due to our showing in the tower we need know WHOSE leader once combat starts, we have three options
The Dawn Squire,Myslef, the Red knight aspirant Keline.
I suggest we selection one of these three, once they give an order to press on,retreat or such it is followed. During hte tower we had several people shouting orders causing confusion let us try to eliminate that..

I believe I may be most suited to creative problem solving and overall tactical disposition as the Dawnsquire is often at the fore, Lilah is often near the fore, and the various participants in our engagements tend to be widely diverse in position and disposition.
However if we are to improve, we will need to train, together, outside of doing mercenary work. I cannot more strongly stress this; we will not improve our showing until we rehearse.
I've wanted to broach this topic several times, but it never seems as if people are around at the same time and with the flurry of activity, I have not had the time to write letters to discuss it. I'll work on this, but I'm mentioning it here.
Outside of combat, however, I think it important we discuss what other roles we may want to create and fill to get the right people in positions of value to the effort. I have touched on these in my Initial Planning Document. Once our goals are cemented, we can begin breaking down our areas of competency and assigning roles that will fill our needs to meet those goals.

You might be in the mercenary army, Lilah, but not all of us are. If you want to command troops, then I suggest you take only your Crimson brothers and sisters into battle with you. We are an council of Twelve PEERS. That said, in a battle I will follow the recommendation of those people who are more experienced in combat than I am. However those are the same people who often rush into battle and then get angry when they walk into my confusing fog, so clearly they do not know how to do combats with casters of magic on their side.

Senior Retainer Osco,
I fully understand that and I have seen much the same- I have been subject to the same whims and dangers that come with it. However, with all due respect, we are a varied assortment of varied individuals with equally diverse talents.
My goal, my singular focus at this moment, is finding out where our talents can contribute to the success of our current (very poorly) defined objectives. The sooner we can get these things moving, the sooner we can start creating successes and staunch the flow of blood and land from this nation.
I am asking your support for the strategic and tactical leadership of our efforts. I am not trying to subsume you, your voice, or anyone else on this council, my goal is merely to create some cohesion and I have much to learn from each and every one here. I am not domineering, I am not asking for power, I am solely focused on how we can collectively stop these threats to your nation and begin building a future with safety not currently available.
What I am proposing is that we collaborate as a council, we lay out a tactical roadmap to our greater strategic goals and get those people best suited to the roles in them. I am better at tactics than politics or mercantilism for example. Right now, in this specific moment, my talents for organizing and large scale strategy are useful, but once we get going we will need everyone's skills to see success and their leadership on these matters will be the difference.
I am human and I will make mistakes, but as you yourself have eloquently said our current battlefield approach is profiting us nothing. We are a council of peers, and I perhaps the least proven here, but we have little to lose from trying something new.
Respectfully,
Keline Hallenthen

Dear Council,
As my Pa always says, too many brew masters will ruin the brew. I for one do not want to run into battle helter skelter! We do need a leader in combat, we need our roles defined. Yes, this is a council but it is also an army at this point. Lets be honest. That being said I ain't giving my life up for some ego inflated wanna be. I won't follow blindly, soldier or not. I'm quite satisfied with being in the back line, but capable enough to do the front line as well. I have no inclination to lead this, but I see clearly when we start fighting, we will need someone to make quick decisions. I'm not even pitching my hat in here, I'm just saying we do need a capable leader.
We obviously need to vote on this. Not necessarily who the commander is, but if we should have one. I vote YES.

Aspirant Keline,
I will follow you into battle any day. You are not a madwoman, as far as I can tell, full of bloodlust in battle. You are smart, organized, and respectable.
I put forth my nomination for you as our leader in combat.
Osco -
I continue to be humbled by the support of this city and its council, I thank you for your trust and will endeavor to prove it justified.
From my training and life experience, it seems most appropriate that we utilize our individual strengths for greatest effect- within those realms where we are versed, we effectively lead the situation: to prevent confusion and discourse. It is, of course, important that the leader of these activities seek out and take into account advice from those not leading it.
This isn't as formal as a strict hierarchy, but considering the nature of our composition (and widely varied approaches to problem solving), I think this might be the most effective path forward. I'd welcome thoughts and ideas from everyone, naturally, this is a group effort afterall.
Sincerely,
Holy Strategist Keline Hallenthen
P.S. Not a title I expected to put next to my name, I just had to try it out.

Call a vote about this. There is a war on I'm told.
