neverwinter nights tutorials, game engine and scripting exploration; virtual tabletops
-
I was thinking of spending some time trying some 1 player stuff with neverwinter nights, play around with some of the engine, scripting, game system.
I like the idea of being able to help building mods (or at any rate, learning a little bit about game design and scripting/programming in the neverwinter nights medium).
Some people have mentioned some other game systems which are trying to do like nwn did when it first came out, this cool innovative community where people could contribute to all aspects of it depending on interests and skills... So I'm wondering about some of these more modern developed collaborative game systems which may exist... I know some of the newer shadowrun games, like shadowrun hong kong etc (my brother got it) had level/scenario editors and places people could post their scenarios, etc. It may be too high end for my current machine, but in the next year I might upgrade to a more powerful upgraded desktop that eventually may be able to more or less play some of the more recent games.
Also interested in virtual tabletop technology (and maybe the space where virtual tabletops like roll20.net etc and computer games start to meet a bit) but also just over the winter I may want to play some dnd5e more traditional but in the comfort of my home in pajamas with hot chocolate and cookies! or pizza pockets or the like.
So yeah, does anyone here have experience with virtual tabletops, playing with people online? I would love to explore what exists when I have time, get some good basics run down... maybe I should be googling youtube or asking on some other forums. In fact I will ask some pnp gamers on social media this question too, but still interested in what experiences folks on here have with this as well.
