Plot Faction for New and Returning Players [Closed]
-
The DM team is about to release a plot faction for new and returning players. Details are still being worked on (like how kickass should their base ought to look, what kind of uniforms, etc…) but we feel like it's a good idea to involve the bunch of new players and some of the returning players we've been seeing lately in a way that lets them be as flexible as they want while at the same time wearing a kickass uniform.
Some points.
-
You will be mercenaries belonging to a small company of little fame. They likely recruited you from small hamlet when you dreamt of glory.
-
No Paladins/Druids permitted due to the mercenary nature of the company. While they will not accept obviously evil contracts, they have done shady things in the past.
-
Clerics whose deities are not Tempus/Waukeen ought to run their idea past a DM.
-
No Applications required. You advance in rank by getting contracts and negotiating for them. Competing contracts are voted on by the company as a whole.
-
All members start out at the bottom wrung. No special treatment.
-
Mechanical Combat PvP will be a thing to a degree. Players who seek to join the faction are suggested to read the PvP guidelines and rules. However, as mercenaries, they are expected to remain professional about opposing sides. They are far more likely to capture enemies and ransom them back than kill them.
-
All alignments are permitted, but keep in mind if you disobey orders you're likely to get kicked out.
-
Priority will be given to new and returning players, but if you are interested in a lite-dm faction you are welcome to join as well.
We plan on roughly launching the faction in about a week from now, though it may take a little longer. If you're interested, my PM box was recently emptied. When everything is set up, a prelude date will be announced, those who can't make it are welcome to find a dm to set them up later. Membership will be easy to gain with existing PCs as well.
-
-
Please send me PMs if you're still interested in this. The faction is meant to help new and returning players navigate a city that was going to undergo dire conflict. If I get enough interest, we'll launch the faction.
-
Faction Launch on Monday then exact time to be announced.

The Red Road Mercenaries
"You got coin? We got the men to pave the roads red."
Brief Background: The Red Road Mercenaries are a small company of men and women of little renown, making their trade in defending small villages from goblins and orcs and performing tasks for wealthy noblemen. They have eschewed large, joint contracts with other bands in fear of being absorbed by them. However, under new leadership by one Martin Galbroth, the leader of the small band of one hundred men takes them to the troubled lands of the north, where they hoped to find Employ in House Beorthre, or even House Paertrover, but instead, find themselves subject to a political catastrophe that threatens to encompass the entire northern lands of cormyr.
Not one to let an opportunity for fortune to slide, Galbroth declares that the company shall reside in Arabel and profit to their utmost and see if the company can find their fame in the troubled northern reaches of Cormyr.
Membership:
No Application is required to join, nor to rise in rank.
Ranks are as follows:
Junior
Corporal
Captain
Boss (Martin Galbroth)Recommended alignment: Neutral, but all alignments are permitted as long as they can adhere to orders.
Classes: Paladins and druids are not permitted. Clerics of Tempus are fine, as well as Waukeen. Other deity's might warrant a brief talk with a DM.Expectations: Players are expected to negotiate contracts and advance the faction in terms of gold. Basically, paperwork and negotiations will be a thing. Those who profit the company rise in rank. Gold is the only currency mercenaries care about, and will switch sides if given a better offer.
This faction is meant for New and Returning Players but will also welcome veterans in spades. You can choose to be as involved as you wish and just hang out in a kickass uniform, or be at the forefront of the faction negotiating, taking names, and kicking ass.
Recruitment: The Red Road Mercenaries aren't picky. If you can wear armor, cast spells, or pick up a weapon, you're hired. But until Corporal, you're paid in whatever loot you find after a battle.
Do I need to Apply?: This faction is designed to be as New Player Friendly as possible, and thus, no application to join, or be promoted, is necessary. You can do as much or as little as you want, with the understanding that you're to help other players push their agenda, or assist the company in maintaining their financial situation. However, the company has a strong code of conduct and they won't look kindly upon brawling or things that give them a bad reputation. Since membership is easy, so is being kicked out.
