Team Decision Regarding Recent Toxic Behavior
-
In an effort to maintain transparency as a key principle of this team, we have decided to share with the entire playerbase our decision pertaining to recent behavior and actions taken by the team. No doubt the majority of the playerbase were made aware of this by other means, but we maintain that this information must arrive from the team in the most accurate manner possible.
In the past few weeks the community was in turmoil on various mediums of communication, be it: Curse, IRC, Forums, PMs, Tells. The fine line between IC and OOC began to blur for several key players and what began as IC conflict quickly deteriorated into a full blown OOC conflict. Coupled with players being unsatisfied due to their progress in the game, toxicity began to fester in the community with these players being the source of it. Matters escalated in such a way that other players, uninvolved, began to feel the brunt of this toxic behavior and either believe things that were unfounded and untrue about their fellow players or their DM team. It were these events that led the DM team into a series of discussions on how to best handle this growing tide of toxicity.
The terms "Permanent Ban" and "Temporary Ban" flew into the air, but the team has decided to show leniency and only wipe vaults of the involved players. It is important to note that we decided to give the same punishment for both sides, because they were equally to blame for this behavior. While one side might have been the focal point, the other was there to allow the toxicity to continue and rage on. The team stood united in this unanimous vote, because we believe that such behavior shouldnt be the norm and wouldnt be tolerated. No matter who you are, what you have done in this community or how long you have been here - Proper etiquette with your fellow players and basic amount of respect to the DM team are expected.
Some of the players we chose to punish for this transgression may choose to leave us, and we will be greatly saddened should they choose to do that. But we will not compromise one inch in how a healthy community should behave. If we lose few players in the process, while unfortunate, it is a worthwhile sacrifice for the rest of the playerbase.
We will gladly answer in PMs or other mediums of communication any questions other players have and put concerns to rest. We will also gladly address any issues or concerns that will rise from the apparent vacuum that will be created in the absence of said characters. Co-concepters are encouraged to turn to us and ask for advices on what to do next and how to press forward. The team will avoid mentioning the names of the players involved here, because they deserve an anonymity despite of their actions.
Thank you for reading this and we apologize that this matter was allowed to go on as deep as it did,
-CoA DM Team-
