Twitch Chat server for City of Arabel
-
So Twitch Chat is a free voice/text chat app that's a mix between teamspeak and skype (without the video chat options) but far more stable and less resource intensive for your computer. (For those familiar with discord, the two apps are basically clones of each-other, with the exact same features and almost the same User interface even, they both came out at around the same time)
We made a server on it for City of Arabel and have about 91 players in it, including a few CoA dms. The server is moderated by dm's as well and has the same rules as irc (slightly more lax on profanity).
We mostly use it for ooc chatter as well as playing other games with the CoA community, it's pretty neat.Anyone can join if they want, Twitch is a very quick free download. But it also has an in browser web app.
Here are the links to the Desktop app and the Web App.
If you go for the desktop app, you can find our particular server by inputting this link here https://app.twitch.tv/servers/j4Q9Lw

Incidentally, it's also a great way to hear Chips and me talk about delicious food.
-
It's also a way to voice complaints to me about my plots without me hellballing you in game
-
I might try this, only cause I will find the accents amusing.

har har, Puffy
-
We got 'em, Chips.
-
I'm still strongly against voice connection while playing CoA.
-
Why's that, AronFF?
-
Because then people generally just talk in voice chat instead of communicating IG, and lines blur when it comes down to that. I'll be honest, I've been part of a group that really only communicated in the voice chat on quests. Got super bored.
-
I think it's fine to be chat while on quests. They're the same narratives we've had to endure for 10 years now.
I usually suggest radio silence if there's someone not in the call trying to RP with us or we're in an event/spice, however.
-
To be honest most of the voice chat is dudes talking about their KFC cravings and detailed hearings of one's mechanical keyboard. There isn't much if any actual IG speak that I've noticed. I find typing alot more efficient when not playing PnP.

What dripster said, while I was occupied with summer activities, like driving 3000kms to, in and from Transsylvania.
Quests, perhaps, if everyone agrees. Other than that, I think it will quickly get unfair towards someone, especially if PvP happens. -
DMs police curse as well.
-
All dm's on the curse server have mod powers. Curse is used for ooc chatter, not IC chatter. No one's forced to use it if they don't like it however.
-
Bumping this, CoA's curse voice server has about 50 members in it, whether you have a mic or not feel free to hop on by if ever you want to shoot the shit with the community.
-
There is very easy to use text-chat function to Curse aswell, for the mic-shy people out there. You don't even have to listen to people if you don't want to. The text side of it works very similar to IRC, with channels etc, with the added benefit of channels storing text so that you don't miss anything by being in another channel.
-
It's basically a better irc in terms of text chat.
-
Friendly bump, the curse voice server currently has 83 members.
Everyone is welcome to use it regardless of whether they have a microphone or not (it has text features and such). -
Bumping this to keep it relevant, curse has since merged with twitch (name changed as a result to Twitch Chat) so I've updated the information on the first post.
The hyperlinks I've put up there should also be working fine, you can hop in Twitch at any time with or without the desktop app by clicking on the link below.
