Rangers
-
Rangers can follow any deity, not just nature-oriented ones, and still receive spells.
Tracking:
Rangers can track creatures by using the .track command. Tracking depends on ranger levels, search, spot, lore and animal empathy skills. The Animal empathy skill is used to identify creatures based on tracks (bonus if the creature is also a favored enemy). The lore skill is used to identify magical beasts. When a ranger is perceived by an animal, an animal empathy check is rolled automatically. If successful, the animal does not attack the ranger.
The default animal companion has been removed.
Rangers can use the .compantame command to tame many animals they find in the wilds (and some other creatures, such as vermin). Success is dependent on the Animal Empathy skill. After taming an animal, the .companname can be used to rename the companion, and .compansum can be used to summon / dismiss it. There is no limit to the number of times a companion can be summoned / dismissed, but if it dies, then the ranger will be required to find a new animal to tame. You can tame creatures up to your druid/ranger levels combined.
You also gain a bonus to your animal companions based on your charisma modifier. for every +1 charisma modifier you have, your creature gains the following bonuses, limited by total ranger/druid levels
+1 Modifier +2 Wis
+2 Modifier +2 Wis, +2 Dex
+3 Modifier +2 Wis, +2 Dex, +2 Str
+4 Modifier +2 Wis, +2 Dex, +2 Str, +2 ConMaximum modifiers based on level.
level 3 - +1
level 6 - +2
level 9 - +3
level 12 - +4This means at level 3, even with 18 Charisma, you only gain a bonus as though you have a +1 modifier
At level 6, you can have up to a +2 modifier, etc.The following benefits are universal to all rangers.:
Reflex saves are now high progression.
Disable Trap and Tumble are class skills.
6 skill points per level (instead of 4)
+1 dodge AC and +1 AB vs Favoured enemies.
