Research on Lathander
-
A Wyvernspur retainer has been seen in the Library conducting research. She leaves without bothering anybody.
She finds a reference in a book titled "Mythic Armoury" which states that "the silvered blade of Keldon Rhee was known to have slaughtered the first incarnation of the Bloodclaw, but only after a dozen or more of his brethren sought to hunt and challenge it in single combat. Rhee's blade was given unto him by the lady of the misty lake and it is believed to have returned to her when he passed onto the next world to stand beside Lathander."
Raindra Undren's Tower - Buried in the western edges of forest is the tower home of Raindra Undren, a former adventuring companion of William Thond, Myrmeen Lhal, Ronus Goldmantle, and Darmos Lauthyr. The tower is said to be all that is left of an old watch tower in the village of Earl's Wabb, once called Omer, until the heroic figure Earl Wabber, a priest of Lathander who defeated a powerful force of undead there. The village itself was later destroyed by Crewshanks in 1375, a minion sworn to the service of the lich Clar Banda. By most accounts, the path to her tower is hidden but can be located should one discover the 'brightest' red oak in the forest in a tome written by Keiron Shadwell on the lich Clar Banda.
The Night Caller was an artifact of Shar that was destroyed years ago by Saint Caruseta of Lathander. The relic is shattered, and no one knows of any way to repair or restore it.
The Shadovar took a strong interest in collecting the broken parts, but would have no way of restoring the artifact to its original power. The artifact itself had the ability to douse an area in a total and complete blackness which was darker than even normal night fall.
A letter is sent to Dent, telling him to come to the Library.
Upon arriving, the librarian approaches him and speaks to him:
"Sir, you're the one whom was asking about a Chalice of Lathander, yes?
I spoke to a friend of mine, a Lathanderite fellow, good man. He seems to recall some tales of a chalice that Lathander, or perhaps one of his chosen, used to trap the powers of an accursed skull.
I proceeded to look through some history books, based on the details my friend could provide, and it seems some skirmishes occurred sometime during the 1100 DR's over this Chalice. Most of the fighting was concentrated to a forested region nearby to Arabel, however, the tome did not state which. The chalice was presumably hidden somewhere in this forest, as it has not been mentioned again until now.
I could find no historical mentions to the accursed skull which my friend had referred to.
I hope this helps."
