Concerning CoG
-
I always thought cog was handicapped by the fact everyone sees it as nothing serious and too gnomey/cartoony. I would never join the faction myself, for the single fact that I would be trying to outlaw/cull the use of magic and piss off the mage guild constantly. It would seem to me their goals should be harnessing the power of null magic zones making them portable for them to place anywhere. Therefore making people flock to them for their conventional magical needs- which would cause a typical monopoly of "magical" power.
But, meh, its fucking gnomes…
I was playing a ''magic hating cleric'' that I applied for CoG with…I'll admit ''Hotpants'' and ''Teapots'' really, really put me off the faction sadly.
It's a shame because the faction has loads of potential for awesome.

Just a heads up, College is starting which means I am going to be doing a lot of "Studying" which means I will be coming back the best I can. Over this time I have been trying to brainstorm new ideas and everything. I know there doesn't seem to be alot of tension between CoG and other factions but honestly that is what a lot of the characters try for. I know Switch had a helluva time trying to get in on Caden's good side since Caden was the big anti-cog mage that I saw. As it stands, I know siding with Caden made a couple of Redharts get pissed but they didn't take it out on CoG they took it out on Caden.
Also, I know we had a serious gnome in the faction for a bit but he isn't in the faction anymore. There are some pretty serious times but as it is, the Gnomes and halflings generally are pretty goofy, that is where the brilliance comes in. If your complaining too much on the Sillyness, try to get inside the mind of a CoG. I have had some pretty intense stuff go on with the people who tried to get hooked in plots with us and its what really led to places.

Yeah… shame about a lot of things...

I don't see why honest merchants would have to stoop to the level of mobsters strong-arming other outfits out of town.
If they were the Fishers' Guild, would you similarly recommend they make a plot out of setting each and every butchers' shop in the city on fire so that people would have to buy their fish? -
It's creative. Suspension of disbelief is something you need to play Arabel.
-
Allow me to clarify, since I have a problem getting my point across lately. If they want to become Don Explosivi's family, let them. I just find it an odd leap to go from 'nice, friendly merchants' to
-
It causes conflict, and its just my idea I had, and thats what me and my characters would do with said faction.
But, if they just want to keep selling teapots…then...I suppose...
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
-
I think Cog should be much less about the merchant side of it anyways. It seems like that was a big part of things for most of the characters in the faction, but I think the focus on the magic/technology would be the much more exciting part of the group.
-
Some of the stuff we sell might have slightly silly names but there's always a reason for it. The Teapots for example is simply because the original goal for the clockwork was to be a mobile tea serving unit aka a teapot on legs. Turned out they were rather explosive so CoG turned them into combat fodder.
And Caek, its not Hotpants, its Hotseat. Basically its a rocket suit. That blasts you in the air out of arm's way. With a sometime slightly off target landing.
-
I recommend everyone purchase a hotseat.
-
I kind of like the silly names and the offbeat gnomish antics.
Kitchen cooking devices are exellent for creating dangerous fire and steam related fatalities. I also like how devices invented to produce tasty food and beverages can be perverted and adapted for use in war. And how they seem to be nearly as harmfull to allies as they are to the enemy, not unlike early fire works based rockets and artillery.
The anti magic theme could be turned into a quest for steam and niter powered alternatives to macic. Along the lines of a pre-industrial Steam Punk technology.

Mother fucking guns.
-
What? Not only there was a Project Teapot 3.0, but it reached mass production?
-
And its getting an upgrade now too!
I guess for now I'll try my best and see how things goes…

I like to Ordered a T.A.N.K super weapon.
Actually before i left COG i don't know if it there now.. there was a powerful artifact teapot they were renting yet no one has taken advantage of that.
there was also one project Not the super secret project the 2nd big one. it barred in the main floor. and then -spoiler- It awesome stuff i love the COG and i gladly throw another character in there but my only to complaints
1. To much Quest farming/ Artifact hunting
2.Player base of players all over the place (basically when everyone else was on i was falling asleep at the keyboard but i wanted to be involved in the progression of the faction) ((i find factions with peck times or players in similar timezone or play times tend to work better for scheduling to make everyone happy)) -

It eventually got used! Mage Guild, of all things, rented it to fight the devil dragon. It got destroyed after -nearly- killing the devil dragon. So close! That reminds, I out to sue the Mage Guild for destruction of property >_>

Obviously you mean Steam powered Crossbow!
steam powered Heavy crossbow.
+1d4 Bludgeon -2 Dodge ac +1 Ab +60% weight , prone to over-heating. Have some mechanic to vent it or risk malfunction. Just so that you'd need to stop and pay attention to the Crossbow as you use it. It will cast Combust on you if you don't!
Mwahaha!
