Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant

It's now officially rated, this incident, as being equivalent to 1986's Chernobyl disaster.
Multiple countries are evacuating their citizens from Japan, minimum of 80km radius, some countries are urging for 120 or more kilometer evacuation zones for their citizens.
Last resort plan, going by varying articles, is to use a stone coffin like the resolution to Chernobyl.

I knew how bad it was the moment I saw the first Hydrogen Explosion. I think every one did except the Japanese Government (or at least, that's how they presented it to the world).

Shit.

This is terrible news, I really feel sorry for the Japanese people, I have friends over there (who are ok) and have visited the nation and its really sad that such an event has happened. I wish Japan a speedy recovery.

This disaster doesn't only affect Japan. Wind currents can carry radiation across the entire globe.

This.
Not to mention the economic disaster. Japan wasn't exactly a banana republic.

Uhm, some people veiw this in a very personal way. I'd think if you are one of those that are not affected you can just let matters drop. We are a community, dare I even say some are a family of sorts. Might I suggest just cutting the others that are struggling to deal with this some slack and wish them and those involved nothing but the best?
The tragedy in Japan is nothing to make light of. It's hardly about blame or I told you so at this point either. History can deal with that. There is a very real human cost that has yet to be paid. The environmental impact will last well into the next generation and perhaps beyond.

I wrote up a long thing, but I'll shorten it up. Shut up, it's too soon to be an asshole.

Its been theorized that if the plant goes completely haywire, the entire northern hemisphere might become unlivable for about 200000 years.

I removed the unwanted posts and just have too say my thoughts are with all over in Japan. This is a terrible situation given what they have just faced.
