Question about 4th edition D&D
-
Hey all,
DnD 4.0 really blows, it is very much world of warcraft on paper. I despise the system. I loved DnD 3.5 which was really rich background and rules wise, although I also very much liked and still use as reference the 3.0 stuff as well, purely for the sheer richness of its ideas and litrature.
V4 sucked principally as it has tried to make everything the same, which is not the same as making everything equal. It just suffers from being too mediocre and plain. Variety is interesting, too much sameness dull. Then there was a few niggling things which annoyed me, like putting gnomes into the monster sections.
I really did feel a lot of the soul of DnD was sucked out with V4, which to me is half of the point of DnD. Frankly I hope the directors of the DnD company fire the guy who was behind V4, it is sheer awful. On a related note, I sincerely hope if there is a NWN3, they stick with the 3.5 system, for if they go with 4.0 I wont buy it.
With regards to pnp in general, anyone ever play the Games Workshop scifi pnp game Inquistor? I think it was a hot system, with a lot of thought gone into it. I dont know many people who have played it though. I consider it possible, that some years down the line Games Workshop, might take over the rp orientated games as a complement to its boardgames.

Grey box 4 life. D&D sucked after that, and you all suck with it.

I m pretty sure every new game that comes with the wizards of the coast stamp on it is legally forced to use the latest DnD system implemented, so no 3.5 rules for the coming DnD titles, including a new neverwinter nights, which btw noone's expecting to be good from what I read in forums. I do hope it will be though.

Here's the funny thing, Pathfinder is not sold in stores (just online) And it's outselling 4.0
I saw second Edition in the weekend market should i pick it up never played 2.0

I found the 2.0 rules to be pretty cool. It introduces a few more classes compared to 1.0 and is all over great fun. If you like it simple and old-fashioned, 2.0 is the best for you. (If you understand the whole THAC0 system)
