Idiotic Things I Did With My First Character
-
I cleaned up my hotmail today, and found a.. very amusing app I had sent in pretty much just when I started playing here, perhaps a month after:
A Chaotic good elf… RED WIZARD! Funny thing is that I never understood why i didnt get approved.

My first character went around claiming he was going to be the best and most feared assassin ever, exclaiming it openly infront of npc guards, and standing in the market. I was even approached by a real assassin, and was told to seek him out if I was looking for work-someone who took the time to say "I am going to teach this noob the ropes" (thank you!). I repayed him by calling him a cut-throat and master assassin in front of a few pc guards, and a paladin or two. (sorry!) I then went on to die for the 15,000th time, and decided it was time to remake. I went running off to where I died, to pick up my old loot, where i was properly informed that was against the rules.
Several characters down the line, I finally made a wood elf named Aniril (original, I know) who to this day I have yet to find a more poorly played wood elf. But he had friends! I then played a bard named Davinchi Luzinchi, who made people laugh enough that he started garnering the attention of some of the better role players despite being second mate on the Macca train to riches.
I learned a little about inter-character plotting from these roleplayers, and then began creating an army of characters all set on involving themselves in PvP in some fashion or other. One of them got me in a bit of trouble, which I won't get into here, but was mostly due to my habit of thinking I knew more then anyone else about how things should be done.
After a bit of a vacation from CoA, I came back and started playing Audra, who went on to become a Thond Retainer. Luckily during this time I got to speak with Div quite often, and learned more about roleplaying, and playing in a community instead of being ego-centric, then I did from anyone else.
Oh, wait, the topic said your first character, not a complete history. Sorry!

My first character was a black skinned, white haired human. Not that it mattered.
I thought that was Mith. I guess all you DMs secretely wanted to be Drizzt sometime in your careers.

EVERYONE wants to be Drizzit sometime in their careers! No one can argue that he is awesome… and if you do, then you have obviously never read his entire series... FEAR HIM, RESPECT HIM, LOVE HIM!!!

I think my first character was a Drow (before applications were put in place) who would randomly attack people and then blame it on "the other Drow". I was in jail a lot… and I got banished from the city.

Gave a bad reputation to the KoTMs but still had a fun time. I still miss those V2 days

Attacked a stag beetle on my toddy, knowing I had zero chance of coming out on top and a very, very minimal chance of survival.
That was the end of that guy. :D -
Yeah, yeah, I know everyone else that posted did this one as well and it's no longer original or funny, but what is was my response…
When cornered by SFP in the Monk's store in NE Arabel, while I was in the process of having my new character pick up all the items my old character had just dropped....
SFP: "What are you doing?"
Me: "Do you realise you have no head?"lol.
Some frantic keyboarding skills and impressive backpeddling/apologizing saved me from getting banned long enough to actually figure out that there were rules and RP even existed.
I still think SFP has an awesome avatar.

NWN was my first exposure to modern PC games and definatly my first online gaming experiance.
My first character on COA was a min/maxed half orc, he was freindly and well spoken, articulate and wise and with intelligance of 8 went to do the puzzlebox after every reset. There was actually a line up outside the guys door after every reset, people spawning at the south gates were so lucky back then.
Then came the elven cleric who proudly boasted she followed no god, and didn't, domains were not enforced. Of course she had plant and earth domains so she could turn the beetles in Nada's (Something I was told about by a freind who played, without me realising the implications of being a cleric). Back then I only knew three quests, Parners, Nada's and some little XP farming thing in the sewers for level 1 to 6 which you could basiclly just run through on a continual basis, the last two had varmin and I could turn them WOOT!. Hells knows how I never got past level 5.
Then came version 3 and I found out about roleplay and forums and all that good stuff.

MY first character was some random paladin… I just hit recomended so I could check out the server ^^.
Any ways, my first -real- character was Varshal Teken'Duis. I acually stole the last name from the Drizzit Books. YOu know that Drow house that got destroyed by the whole city in Homeland? Yeah. Anyways, mistake I did with him he was poor, and never made it past level 6 but I had fun with him. I had minimal RP experiance (I had just come from NeverSummer Nights Action Server, god I hated that place) and wanted to play out being a character.
Of course, I had no clue what I was doing but I never did anything too bad (Though I did log off after raiding Parner's Shrine after Mr. Moloch possesed him and tried to beat me down. Never did that again) but I did have the awfull habit of remaking him when he died. I had a good 5-6 version of him, and in fact still do somewhere.
I think the height of his carrer was at level six and I stumbled across a body with Spiked Armor (Good stuff +2 Hide with vampiric touch 2x Day) and promptly died at the Fezzy Kid Quest and lost it in the crash. I remade him again.
Second thing... I have a good 50+ dead characters I really ought to delete some day.

lets see I had so many first characters and ah the days of exploiting I think at some point we all have done it and watched the scripts take place one by one to prevent it.
I had a Dwarf once rikus something or other who used the city message system to try and get a fey spear by saying I was willing to buy a magic spear and then in ooc brackets list exactly what I wanted. of course after spamming this message for about 10 minutes Mu told me exactly what he thought about it and I have never done it since. After many chars I finally made Rynn Ballard and was accepted into the guard. Loved her she was mean and anyone who used to play when she was on can vouch for that. If ya looked at her the wrong way she beat you arrested you then beat you some more in prison it was great.

My first rogue was one of the typical annoying pick pocket types. Untill I found out that I could pick pocket the begger in the market. Then I started leading him out of town and killing him to get all his money. I was making a rather succesfull business of it untill one of the DMs spotted me (thanks for not banning me!) I really had no idea what I was doing was wrong, but since I would mostly do it in the middle of the night there were usually no DMs on to tell me one way or another.
I had also found a bug involving campfires and walls… I would stand on cliffs that had no ramps to get up to them and shoot/taunt people that were walking down the roads.
so er... right. Sorry for exploiting but it sure feels good to come clean :) even if it was almost three years ago!

Yes, I comitted the same mistake that Spruce did, I create a fighter that had all in STR and CON and nothing in INT and CHA, he was very polite and smart though (i had no bad intentions, was just stupid). One day… One day I was spotted by a DM who warned me about that and suddenly Edward forgot how to talk properly, started to act like a big child and I had to spent some gold and level gained points on INT to become a little smarter, about the CHA, well, he's still a grumpy-smelling man.

bugged the DMs, whining about anything and everything I could. Usually I didn't pay for it, until the DMs finally knew who I was. Now I run on the hamster wheel that makes the server run. Sorry for the crashes :(, but mostly they were things like, "This server sucks, I spent three hours and never got above level 6!" So realizing it was mostly bogus, I mined what little useful information was there for knowledge on my new found server :D. I come across this entry on subraces (having never done CEP or PRC, and never used a subrace). Immediately, I read an entry on how illegal subraces end up locked somewhere on creation. Looking at the post date, and deciding it was old, and the DMs couldn't be so smart as to catch everyone 8) , I decided to try to "sneak" a drow past the server. Imagine my suprise when I discovered the scripting on the server actually worked, and I spawned in "Arabel Palace: Dungeon." After punching the door, yelling to get out, casting every magic spell I had memorize, and even considering (I was dumb, but not THAT dumb) spamming the DM channel to ask to be let out, I just decided to call it a day and chalk it up as a learning experience. Unfortunately, I am still learning. You can't "Kill myself" in that area, and I occasionally still misclick in my vault and end up playing my forsake drow in the dungeon

I had this habit (well, still do, really) of making new random characters every few days or so. Eventually my account would get like, 20 or so characters on it and I'd decide to make a new account. Since first starting Arabel I've made about 17 or 18 different accounts, all with about 20 or a bit less characters on them. I can't really remember most of the accounts since some were from two or three years ago but I can still get on about 6 of them. I'm pretty sure I win character ADD since I'd estimate I have over 300 characters floating around.

Decided to ally myself with Eldaris.
Let fort tank gilmores.

As I recall, we survived that. The spawns were clearly scared of an armorless barbarian.

You guys, these things are hilarious.
Unfortunately, I did a lot of research before coming to CoA, and I've RPed at a lot of other places, so I knew the ropes.
I still, however, have Nadya stand by conversations and eavesdrop.
