Subrace Wish List Thread

Polaris mentioned he needed more ECL0 Subraces, and he didn't mind adding flavor-based ones.
So let's give the DM team some ideas, guys!
Handy subrace reference list: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/
Let's try to remain around ECL0, meaning no insanity like half-giant/ogre, etc.
My list:
Arctic Dwarf: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/151.html
Aquatic Elf: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/161.html
Fireblood Dwarf: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/106.html
Rock Gnome: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/176.htmlRemoved, not distinct enough due to it being simply edition changes.Tundra Halfling: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/191.html
Urdunnir: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/155.html
Snow Elf: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/165.html
Stonehunter Gnome: http://www.athasreborn.com/prc/manual/english/content/races/105.html

Rock gnomes are the default gnomes.
-
No, because default gnomes have wizard as a favored class. Rock gnomes favor bard.
NWN gnomes match up closer to forest than rock. If you look in the manual, it has stats for default NWN gnome, rock gnome and forest gnome.
Edit: Looked on Wiki which says NWN gnome is rock gnome. The link above would make rock gnome properly distinct from NWN gnome via favored class change and other factors.

Svirfneblin(Deep Gnome)

Those have already been supported for years, and require applications. We're looking to pitch ECL0 subraces, meaning appless.
-
Rock gnomes are default gnomes.
They had favored class wizard in 3e, and bard in 3.5e. Not a different subrace.
-
As per 5e rules, Dragonborn could become an appless subrace if we balance it right.
Maybe +2 STR, -2 DEX.
Breath weapon and resistance, but vulnerability to the opposite element. Could also get rid of the vulnerability, but force use of the dragon head (the neckless issue and bad looking models are no longer a problem with the half-elf base model)
-
Half drow? Or made up versions of half elf with elf stats/2.
-
Goblin
Kobolds
Kenku
Slyth
Weresnakes
-
Kobolds
Gnolls
Kobolds again
Lizardmen
Goblins
Kobolds againMore quests outside to support monstrous PCs.
More leeway with attacking/PVP for monsters so they're terrifying, not quest buddy pets, and so they can be taken out easily if it is IC. -
Skulks
Only decent reference I've seen to them is in the entry for Ibrandul in Faiths & Avatars sourcebook.

Derro
Derro again

How do you code PvP on sight into a subrace? :)
I think it would lead to more bitterness than fun on both parts, Arabel, thankfully, is not about PvP on sight scenarios. What about half-elves? Add a few bonuses to make them viable.
-
Easy just say these monsters if played are pvp on sight. So if other pc's see these monsters and wish to pvp/kill them they can.
-
@aronff
The people that play a 'be killed on sight' subrace are fine with being killed on sight so there's no bitterness. -
But I'd be bitter if I was killed by OP arena dudes who rectified it by playing a KoS subrace so they have to fight everyone.
And yes, I know. Overreacting.
I'm just against KoS subraces becoming a usual thing. -
I think if people are willing to app and play these risky subraces let them there is no reason to stop someone having fun.
-
@AronFF
Players likely to go around fighting and killing everyone likely would not be approved. It's not a two-way street. You are fine with being killed, but you do not run around killing idiotically. Unless you encounter Annoying McKeepsgettingupaftersubduedandyoutoldhimnottothreetimesalready. -
I thought we were looking for races which wouldn't require an app, because...

Didn't see that part. Appless?
Tiefling/Aasimar(as per modern D&D)
Dragonborn
Warforged (possibly - I think they're standard in one campaign setting)
Possibly the Genasi (at least the standard ones)About new races, I don't know. Nothing really fits. They're all super rare (and thus should not be appless) or they would need to be retconned into the setting as I never seen any of them before.
Maybe stuff like Catfolk?
