Soooo uhhhh.... Hype?
Edit: More info here
-
If it has multiplayer and brings new people in it'd be good
-
It has no texture updates. It couldn't have, with all the custom content around, impossible.
So they've done some tricks to the menus? Grand...Anyway. If it is compatible, great!
-
Might bring in old players or new, as well as promised UI updates without messing with the core game.
Hype?
Hype.
-
It doesn't look like it has multiplayer.
No hype
-
Considering that multiplayer was the main and most important feature of NWN, I'm thinking they'll probably include it.
In which case the most important feature of the revamp would be that it's built around newer computers, with multi core systems. This'd make server hosting multiplayer games far far more viable.
Also it'd allow for much higher tier mods, and visual haks to be applied.
-
@Chips is right, pretty sure it will have it, since in some of the statements it even says "selected players will be able to play, import modules, and update persistent world servers ahead of launch."
-
A lot of why NWN died off was that it wasn't designed around multiple core systems. Which tremendously limited how good the graphic haks could be, and a servers ability to run the game.
So even if this enhanced edition doesn't increase the graphics, as long as they recoded the game in a way to make it work with modern pc's. It'll open up new modding capabilities.Also....enhanced UI, I really hope they fixed how merchants work
-
If it has multiplayer. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY
-
Looking forward to getting my paws on this.
-
Which would mean that those with the old game couldn't play, wouldn't it?
-
Is there a timeframe or hint of release date for this as yet? We looking at weeks, months, years?

There's a live stream today apparently, and talk of giving preorders early access to start building PWs.
If it is backwards compatible that would be terrific. However some of the fixes include fixes to the module building side of things.
Backwards compatibility with save games might just come in the form of a file converter that transfers a character over.
I can't imagine them changing anything so drastic as to make existing nwn code or assets incompatible, but will have to see. I'm sure someone will preorder, try the early access and see if they can play a nwn 1 custom module or not.
EDIT
"Save games, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights work in the Enhanced Edition."
-
Spec upgrades for the game would be terrific, as well as steam workshop
-
Helm is blessing us. Praise Helm.
-
Yep, this is pretty interesting for sure.
Mostly as it could bring in new folks to the general NWN community.
-
DM's are invited over to Beamdogs forums to discuss what would aid them most and Beamdog will try and put it in if possible since they have the full source code
-
Okay... question is why don't we consider 3-4 key points CoA would benefit the most and register a user, each of us, and ask basically the same thing as some odd mediahack?
And I know that this is eastern european thinking, I defile democracy and western value, ect.
Free us from tyranny earlier next time, I guess. I'm that spoiled.
I mean no harm though. :) -
I was bursting to come here and talk about this. Since I started doing game reviews I sometimes get a heads up about projects like this. Beamdog sent me an embargoed info dump on it, so I was chomping at the bit to talk about it. I look forward to reviewing this, following it through EA, and seeing how it can help grow CoA.

I'll definitely be getting the deluxe edition
